Star Wars is back after a seven-year hiatus from the big screen with The Mandalorian & Grogu.
The theatrical spin-off of the beloved Disney+ show brings the titular bounty hunter and his adoptive son to cinemas for the first time.
Directed by the show’s creator Jon Favreau, who previously kicked off the MCU with Iron Man, and written by Favreau and new Lucasfilm co-president Dave Filoni, the new movie is an expansion of the TV show.
Given that, fans might be wondering if there’s a way to watch the film on streaming yet. So if you want to know how to watch The Mandalorian & Grogu… this is the way.
How to watch The Mandalorian & Grogu
Unlike previous Disney-era Star Wars films, which released in December (excluding Solo: A Star Wars Story), The Mandalorian and Grogu is returning the saga to the spring hitting cinemas from today (May 22 2026).
That means if you want to see the latest entry in the sci-fi franchise, the only way to do so currently is to head to the cinema.
Is The Mandalorian & Grogu on Disney+?
Not yet. The Mandalorian & Grogu is a theatrical event coming only to cinemas for the time being, though it will come to Disney+ at a later date.

When will The Mandalorian & Grogu be released on Disney+?
Speaking of a later date, The Mandalorian & Grogu will drop on Disney+ eventually, though the exact date has yet to be revealed.
If it follows the release pattern of other Disney films we’ll likely have to wait anywhere between four and six months before we can watch it on the streaming service, but this is speculation at this stage.
What is the Mandalorian & Grogu plot?
The specifics of the plot have largely been kept under wraps, however we do know a few details about Mando and Grogu’s latest adventure.
Per StarWars.com, “The evil Empire has fallen, and Imperial warlords remain scattered throughout the galaxy. As the fledgling New Republic works to protect everything the Rebellion fought for, they have enlisted the help of legendary Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and his young apprentice Grogu.”
This journey brings the duo into conflict with the Hutts (of Jabba the Hutt fame), who are one of several parties vying for more power in this uncertain post-Empire time period.
