While Destiny 2 is nearing the end of its content releases on June 9th, Bungie’s new game, Marathon, is launching soon. Season 2 of Marathon, called NIGHTFALL, starts on June 2nd, and a new trailer has been released to build excitement for both new and longtime players.
The story begins with the Sentinel, a new type of Runner Shell, and its crew arriving at Night Marsh, which is the darkened version of Dire Marsh. It’s clear the UESC forces are on high alert, as shown through flashbacks of Runners who were previously defeated. These flashbacks reveal some were trapped by mysterious creatures, while others were relentlessly hunted and killed by fellow Runners.
The Sentinel quickly finds itself alone, shooting at moving shadows as strange creatures run around. Unfortunately, it doesn’t last long, but even death doesn’t seem to offer any relief. Are players fighting the remains of previous enemies, or something entirely new?
We’ll get a complete look later this week, and hopefully learn more about the Cradle – a new system that lets you customize your Runner’s abilities – and the Sentinel’s new weapon. Bungie also has plenty more planned, like two new ways to play PvE, increased storage space, and other exciting additions. You can find all the details here.
