Andy Cohen Crashes CNN to Surprise Anderson Cooper on 59th Birthday

Get ready to watch what happens when Andy Cohen crashes live TV.

The Bravo host unexpectedly showed up on Anderson Cooper’s CNN show, playfully crashing the June 3rd broadcast to celebrate his 59th birthday.

In a TikTok video shared by CNN, Andy surprised Anderson Cooper with a huge bunch of balloons while he was reporting. Andy jokingly called Anderson a ‘Gemini stud’ and asked, ‘How you doing, my man?’ Anderson was clearly caught off guard, pausing mid-sentence to react.

The host of Watch What Happens Live told his friend to stop focusing on the California primary election results, saying, “Let’s forget about those L.A. elections for now. We’ve heard enough! Plus, it’s your birthday, and mine was yesterday.”

Anderson, amused by the greeting, responded with his typical dry wit, saying, “You dressed up, wow.”

Andy—who turned 59 on June 2—continued showering Anderson with compliments on his special day.

“I love your newsroom, it’s gorgeous,” the dad to Ben, 7, and Lucy, 4, gushed. “Blow out your cake.”

Once Anderson blew out the candles on his birthday cake, Andy playfully attempted to smear a bit of frosting on his nose, then lovingly said, “You know what’s amazing? You.”

Andy kept the celebration going online, posting a picture of Anderson wearing a fitted muscle shirt to his Instagram Stories that day.

Andy wished his dad a happy birthday, calling him a wonderful father, journalist, and friend, and playfully noting his strong arms.

Anderson replied, “Thanks! and happy birthday gemini twin @bravoandy.”

Anderson recently reached a significant career achievement while also experiencing a big change. He finished his 20-year run as a correspondent on CBS’s 60 Minutes with his final appearance on the show’s season 58 finale last month.

On the May 17th show, Anderson explained that it had become too difficult to manage his duties at 60 Minutes alongside hosting Anderson Cooper 360 on CNN.

Throughout my time contributing to 60 Minutes, my primary job has always been at CNN, and continues to be. It’s been difficult balancing that with the extensive work needed to produce a high-quality 60 Minutes segment.

Above all, Anderson wanted to dedicate more time to raising his sons, 6-year-old Wyatt and 4-year-old Sebastian, whom he co-parents with his ex, Benjamin Maisani.

Cooper explained that he has children ages four and six and wants to cherish the time he has with them while they still enjoy being with him. He feels like those precious years are passing quickly.

To celebrate Anderson’s birthday, let’s take a look at some of Hollywood’s most famous best friends!

Nicole has always loved her sister-in-law’s films, and a few years ago, she got the chance to ask her to recreate some memorable scenes, including a famous one from My Best Friend’s Wedding.

During a May 2024 appearance on the Everything Iconic with Danny Pellegrino podcast, she recounted telling Cameron, ‘I need you to run towards me from behind the luggage cart, towards the airport.’ She explained that she was directing Cameron, essentially telling her what to say while they were driving. She added that Cameron was incredibly accommodating and willingly followed her instructions, which she appreciated.

It’s a good thing Lawrence was available to spend time with Schumer, or they might have missed out on a wonderful friendship! Their connection began after Schumer’s 2015 movie, Trainwreck. Lawrence admitted to emailing Schumer, saying, “I’m in love with you,” and that led to a back-and-forth exchange that eventually turned into texting.

The friendship really took off when Schumer casually invited Lawrence to join her and her childhood friends for a trip to the Hamptons. Schumer was surprised when Lawrence accepted, but quickly realized she was incredibly down-to-earth. Schumer described Lawrence as “the coolest person you’ll ever meet” and said she fit right in with the group.

Everyone would love a friend who’s successful and established in their community! Jennifer Lopez and Sofia Vergara have been incredibly close ever since they met and instantly connected at the premiere of Man on Fire in 2004. Lopez described it as an immediate and strong connection, saying she loved being around Vergara and that she always made her laugh.

Vergara was also enthusiastically cheering on Lopez when she performed at President Joe Biden’s inauguration. She told TopMob News she messaged Lopez, reminding her of her Bronx roots and praising her performance as truly inspiring and beautiful to watch.

Considered the ultimate celebrity friendship, this trio has remained incredibly close since they first bonded while working on the Warner Brothers lot. According to a source, their shared experience on the show Friends created a powerful bond that has lasted for years. Just like staying in touch with former coworkers, they prioritize getting together—whether it’s for casual happy hours or larger reunions. The source notes that it’s easy for them to connect, with regular Sunday dinners at Courteney’s or pool parties at Jennifer’s, and that they all feel a deep and lasting connection.

Amy Poehler and Tina Fey have been incredibly close friends ever since they met in an improv class in 1993 – so much so that people often comment on their strong bond. Poehler, who has one younger brother named Greg, described their connection as that of sisters in an interview with PopSugar while promoting their 2015 movie, Sisters. She explained that their friendship has given her the experience of having the family connection she always wanted.

Philipps described meeting Williams on the set of Dawson’s Creek as love at first sight. They instantly connected as friends, quickly bonding over shared activities like drinking wine, smoking, and even getting into trouble. That initial spark of affection has lasted for years. Luckily for fans, we get a glimpse into their ongoing life together – from walking red carpets in matching outfits to playfully dyeing Williams’ hair fun colors like millennial pink.

Drake and Adele, despite only recently starting to discuss working together, are clearly eager to collaborate. After years of admiring each other’s music – they’ve won a combined 19 Grammys – they began exploring the possibility of a remix. Adele admitted she’s a huge Drake fan, even going so far as to order the same red coat he wore in a music video. Drake responded with equal enthusiasm, jokingly offering to do chores for her. Instead of immediately recording, they opted for a casual hangout, enjoying a meal and a bowling outing in Los Angeles. It seems a collaboration is definitely in the works – they’re just taking their time.

After receiving great support from other women during her pregnancies, Eva Washington is committed to offering the same encouragement to her celebrity friends. She shared with Entertainment Tonight that she makes a point of having open and honest conversations, particularly with Eva Longoria. Longoria greatly appreciated Washington’s advice when she welcomed her son, Santiago, in 2018, playfully calling Washington “basically my doula.”

Over two decades after winning an Oscar for Good Will Hunting, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are collaborating again on The Last Duel. Despite a period of working on separate projects, their close friendship remains strong. Damon shared with Entertainment Tonight back in 2016 that they’ve known each other for 35 years and essentially grew up together, united by a shared passion for acting and filmmaking. He believes this mutual obsession during their early years created a lifelong bond.

I’ve always been fascinated by the story of how Oprah and Gayle became friends! It goes all the way back to 1976 when they both worked at a Baltimore TV station. They weren’t really close back then, though – Oprah was an anchor and Gayle was a production assistant, and people didn’t mix much due to the usual workplace differences. But then a huge snowstorm hit, and Oprah, being so kind, invited Gayle, who was just starting out and making $12,000 a year, to stay with her. The very next day, they went shopping at the mall, and that’s where their incredible friendship really began – over sweaters at Casual Corner, of all places! It’s just such a sweet and relatable story about how lasting bonds can form in the most unexpected ways.

While your dates probably don’t involve Wimbledon finals or royal palaces, Meghan Markle and Serena Williams actually connected in a very relatable way. They first met at a 2014 Super Bowl event and quickly became friends. As Meghan wrote on her now-defunct website, The Tig, they bonded over casual things—taking pictures, playing flag football, and chatting about everyday life, not tennis or acting.

Even though Game of Thrones is over, the close bond between Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams remains strong. Williams, who was a bridesmaid at Turner’s wedding to Joe Jonas in 2019, playfully suggests the show’s greatest achievement wasn’t its 12 Emmy Awards. She told TopMob News at the final season premiere that the series felt like a long, elaborate way to help her find a best friend, adding that having such a supportive friend during the show’s intense run was a true blessing.

Everyone’s heart probably melted watching Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively’s adorable reaction when their oldest daughter, James, recognized Taylor Swift’s song “Gorgeous” at a concert. Lively later jokingly called the viral video embarrassing, telling Robin Roberts on Good Morning America it showed their completely unfiltered and over-the-top pride as stage parents. But the genuine friendship between the families – marked by Fourth of July celebrations at Taylor Swift’s Rhode Island home, gatherings at Reynolds and Lively’s country house, and appearances in Swift’s music videos – is something special and worth cherishing.

Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon have a friendship that goes way back, even before their Apple TV+ series, The Morning Show. They first acted together in 2000 when Witherspoon had a brief role on an NBC show, and she’d recently given birth to her daughter, Ava. Witherspoon remembers being nervous about balancing work and motherhood, even pumping breast milk on set. She recalls Aniston repeatedly asking about the baby, and being incredibly supportive. “We’ve been friends ever since,” Witherspoon said.

Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg have an unlikely but captivating friendship that began at the 2015 Comedy Central Roast of Justin Bieber. It blossomed into the VH1 cooking show, Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party. Snoop Dogg explained to LA Weekly that Martha Stewart is different from people he’s usually around, but surprisingly relatable. He said that despite her different background and era, she’s just a normal person when you get to know her. Their connection works because she always understands his perspective, and he feels a deep, almost familial bond with her – he described it as ‘holy matrimony, not holy macaroni.’
