One for the money, two for the show—Taylor Swift is ready, so watch her go.
As a huge Taylor Swift fan, I was so excited to see the latest news! It’s incredible – less than two years after reports said she was worth $1.6 billion, Forbes now says she’s officially a billionaire twice over, with a net worth of $2 billion! It’s amazing to watch her success.
According to a recent list in the business magazine, the Grammy-winning artist has doubled her wealth since becoming a billionaire in 2023. This increase is thanks to the massive success of her Eras Tour, which took place from 2023 to 2025, and strong sales of her re-recorded albums.
Taylor Swift, 36, has been busy! She released two new albums, Tortured Poets Department in 2024 and Life of a Showgirl in 2025. Plus, she regained ownership of the rights to her first six albums last year.
According to Forbes, the singer known for “Opalite” has a net worth of nearly $800 million. This includes around $600 million from their music catalog, $110 million in property, and nearly $800 million earned through royalties and touring.
Taylor Swift is now confirmed as the world’s wealthiest female musician, with a net worth of $2 billion. She first earned this title in October 2024 when her net worth reached $1.6 billion, at which point she surpassed Rihanna.
Although she’s still the highest-earning female artist, she isn’t the richest musician overall. That title belongs to Jay-Z, who is currently worth $2.8 billion according to a recent profile in Forbes.
Taylor Swift’s financial success is definitely worth celebrating. As Forbes noted, she was the first musician to reach billionaire status mainly through her music and live shows.

With her wedding to Travis Kelce just around the corner, Taylor Swift also has another exciting project in the works.
Taylor Swift is releasing a new song called “I Knew It, I Knew You” on June 5th for the upcoming Toy Story 5 movie, after many rumors about her participation in the film.
With Taylor Swift’s new song coming out soon, let’s take a look at how much other celebrities are earning in Hollywood.

Jennifer Lawrence, who has won an Academy Award, earned $25 million for her role in the Adam McKay-directed comedy Don’t Look Up. However, her co-star, Leonardo DiCaprio – also an Oscar winner – received $30 million for the same film.
Jennifer Lawrence acknowledged that Leonardo DiCaprio earns more at the box office than she does. While she’s happy with her own salary, she told Vanity Fair that she’s noticed a pattern – and many other women likely have too – where asking about equal pay is awkward. And if someone does question a pay difference, they’re often told it’s not about gender, but aren’t given a clear explanation for the disparity.
Jennifer Lawrence’s positive outlook on the issue came after a difficult struggle. In 2014, a data breach at Sony revealed she was paid less than her male co-stars in the 2013 film American Hustle, sparking a widespread discussion about unequal pay for women in Hollywood.
In a 2017 interview with Channel 4 News, Lawrence explained she wasn’t worried about her earnings. ‘I’m lucky to have the job I do,’ she said. ‘It wasn’t about the amount of money – millions is still a lot! – but about the larger issue of unfairness and inequality.’

Compared to Leonardo DiCaprio’s earnings, Jonah Hill received a relatively small $60,000 for his work in the 2013 film The Wolf of Wall Street – before taxes and commissions. This is significantly less than the $10 million earned by the lead actor.
Hill remembered being offered very little money during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2014. However, he was eager to accept because it was an opportunity to work on a film directed by Martin Scorsese, and he wanted to finalize the agreement quickly before anyone reconsidered.
According to actor Jonah Hill, he’d be willing to make huge sacrifices, even selling his house and giving away all his money, just for the chance to work with director Martin Scorsese. He explained that while films like 22 Jump Street help pay the bills, true fulfillment comes from projects you’re passionate about. He’d gladly repeat the experience and emphasized that doing work you care about is more important than financial gain.

Although the winner of Dancing With the Stars doesn’t receive a cash prize, all finalists are paid throughout their time on the show, and they also receive a bonus, according to season 33 champion Jenna Johnson, who won with partner Joey Graziadei.
Johnson explained that winning doesn’t come with a huge payout – it’s more about the trophy. And while dancers are guaranteed a certain number of weeks on the show, professional contracts depend on how long they’ve been with the program. Dancer salaries start between $1,200 and $1,600 per episode and can reach up to $100,000 for the entire season, though ABC hasn’t officially confirmed these figures. Celebrities, on the other hand, begin with a $125,000 salary, and those who make it to the semifinals or finals can earn an additional bonus of up to $50,000.

The actress hinted that the main cast of Friends – including Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc – each earn around $20 million annually from the show’s continued broadcasts. She jokingly suggested to The Times in April 2026 that the reason is simply “Because Phoebe Buffay was so great!”
But in actuality, she praised the talents of her costars for their performances.
I thought my performance was decent, but Jennifer and Courteney were incredible! David and Matt had me in stitches, and Matthew—well, he was on another level entirely.

According to Joe Giudice, he and his ex-wife Teresa Giudice didn’t make much money during the first season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. He said on his daughter Gia’s podcast, Casual Chaos, in August 2025, that they were paid around $25,000, which he considered a very small amount, but they accepted it.
Creating the first season of the show wasn’t inexpensive. The father of four recalled, “I remember that big party we threw in my living room. I’d estimate the whole first season cost me around $150,000.”

Oprah Winfrey happily accepted only a little bit of green to star in 1985’s The Color Purple.
In a 2023 interview with Essence, the media billionaire said they were initially offered just $35,000 for the film, but it turned out to be the most valuable $35,000 they ever made. They explained that the experience was transformative and a huge learning opportunity.

Jennifer Lopez made history when she played the late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla in the 1997 movie Selena. She was the first Latina actress to be paid $1 million for a film role.
Looking back on her first big film, Lopez recalled being very young and not fully understanding the situation. She told Variety in 2019 that the million-dollar offer was fantastic, and she sensed everyone involved was trying to prove a point.
This success allowed her to earn hundreds of millions of dollars, and sometimes she doesn’t even have to contribute financially to see a return.
In a 2019 interview with GQ, Jennifer Lopez explained that she pursues projects out of passion, not just for financial gain. She revealed she wasn’t highly paid for Hustlers, and even produced it herself, choosing to invest in her own vision. She compared it to her song Jenny From the Block, emphasizing that she simply follows her heart and does what she loves.

Adrien Brody wasn’t motivated by financial gain when he accepted the role in The Brutalist. He chose to play a Hungarian architect struggling with his work in post-World War II America, and the performance ultimately earned him his second Academy Award for Best Actor, despite a salary of just $250,000.
Brody told Variety he’s ready for a big studio film, explaining he’s invested everything he has into renovating a unique property – a barn he describes as castle-like – in upstate New York.

When asked about his early spending habits after joining Saturday Night Live in 2014 at age 20, Pete Davidson joked to New York magazine, “Do you know how much we make?” He then revealed he earned around $3,000 per episode, adding, “So I guess I bought dinner.”
It’s noteworthy that pay for new cast members on Saturday Night Live has stayed consistent over time. In 1975, original stars like John Belushi, Jane Curtin, Gilda Radner, Dan Aykroyd, and Chevy Chase each earned $750 per episode. Considering inflation, that’s about $3,300 in 2014, and roughly $4,428 today in 2025.

Kenan Thompson earns significantly more than $3,000 per episode of SNL these days, especially since he’s in his 22nd season on the show. But he didn’t always make that much – he had to begin with smaller roles, starting with his work on Nickelodeon.
In Demi Lovato’s 2024 documentary, Child Star, a former cast member of All That shared that their first paycheck was $800. They joked that, being 12 years old at the time, it felt like a million dollars.

It turns out Gilmore Girls’ status as a beloved rewatchable classic is literally priceless.
Actress Lauren Graham, best known for playing Lorelai Gilmore in the original series and its 2016 revival, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, recently shared that she doesn’t receive any ongoing payments (residuals) from Netflix. She told Jimmy Kimmel in March 2025 that she’s instead been ‘paid in love and appreciation’ for her work.

During the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike, actress Tommy Dorfman revealed details about her pay for the show 13 Reasons Why. The strike, along with the WGA strike, was partly caused by streaming services like Netflix not offering extra pay to actors and crew when a show became successful.
Dorfman revealed on Threads on July 24th that she earned $29,953.24 for the first season of 13 Reasons Why before her agency, manager (a combined 20% fee), and taxes were taken out. She worked on 8 episodes over six months, doing all the promotional work and appearing in key artwork for the show. She also traveled frequently between New York City and San Francisco to film, often working for days without pay and barely qualifying for health insurance.
Dorfman also noted that the show’s first season reached 476 million viewing hours within its first 28 days, which is why they decided to go on strike.

Dax Shepard recently shared with Lauren Graham, a former co-star on their show Parenthood, that he was one of the lowest-paid actors on the NBC drama during its six-season run. He didn’t mention specific salaries or co-stars’ names.
But, the Armchair Expert host stressed that he did not mind.
Before becoming a parent, I always made it a priority to find out how much my colleagues were earning. I’d either ask them directly or discreetly check with my agent to get the information.
He deliberately avoided finding out details about his family history at work, and this helped him enjoy his time there, even when he started to realize how low he ranked in the company hierarchy.

In 2005, George Clooney told the Los Angeles Times that he and Grant Heslov each only made one dollar from the film Good Night, and Good Luck. Clooney explained that to get the movie made, he had to cash his directing check and forgo his salary as an actor, while Heslov did the same. They each effectively contributed their earnings to the project.
George Clooney’s passion project, a play about CBS journalist Edward R. Murrow and his courageous reporting in the 1950s, proved to be a success. Clooney made his Broadway debut playing Murrow, wrapping up a months-long run in June 2025. The play earned a Broadway record for a non-musical—$3.3 million during previews before its official opening on April 3—demonstrating it was a significant financial success, far exceeding his $1 salary.

Christian Bale revealed in a 2022 interview with GQ that he earned very little for his iconic role as Patrick Bateman in the 2000 film American Psycho. He explained that the production wasn’t initially eager to cast him, and he was paid only the legally required minimum wage, with director Mary Harron being his primary advocate.
Bale recalled earning so little money that he remembered the makeup artists joking he was paid less than they were, while he was sitting in the makeup trailer.

No, the Game of Thrones cast didn’t get paid $300,000 per episode, according to Emilia Clarke.
I remember reading an interview with her in 2026 where she said they didn’t make nearly as much as you’d think. She joked that if they had, she’d be driving around in a couple of Porsches! It was a really relatable moment, honestly.
The actress, best known for her role as Daenerys Targaryen on HBO’s Game of Thrones from 2011 to 2019, shared that her earnings from the show allowed her to pay off her parents’ home loan.

Although his uncle was Rico, Jon Heder revealed in 2010 that he originally earned just $1,000 for his role in Napoleon Dynamite.
Once the unexpectedly successful comedy film took off, he was able to negotiate a share of the earnings. He told the New Zealand Herald that the offer was increased.

Despite a successful career with acclaimed films like Amistad and Blood Diamond, Djimon Hounsou believes he doesn’t earn enough money in Hollywood.
The Beninese actor shared with CNN’s Larry Madowo in January 2025 that despite working in film for over twenty years, and having received two Oscar nominations and starred in numerous blockbuster movies, he continues to struggle financially to support himself.

In her 2024 memoir, Rebel Rising, Rebel Wilson revealed she earned just $3,500 for her work on Bridesmaids. However, she had to pay the entire amount to the Screen Actors Guild to become a union member, meaning she effectively received no money for the film.
Still, she wrote, the experience was “everything!”
The Australian actress’s career soared, and her salary increased dramatically from $65,000 for Pitch Perfect in 2012 to $10 million for Pitch Perfect 3 in 2017. She earned a total of $20 million from Pitch Perfect 3, Isn’t It Romantic, and The Hustle. However, after paying nearly 50% in taxes, 10% to her agents, and 5% to her lawyer, plus other professional fees, she still considered her earnings to be a substantial fortune.

In late 2017, Ellen Pompeo successfully negotiated a new contract for her role on Grey’s Anatomy. The deal paid her $575,000 per episode, included a substantial signing bonus, and gave her a stake in the show’s profits estimated to be worth between $6 and $7 million.
In a 2018 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, 48-year-old Pompeo explained that she’s reached a point in her career where she confidently asks for fair compensation, something she attributes to gaining experience with age. She acknowledged that the industry doesn’t always see her as a leading actress, particularly after playing the same character for 14 years. However, she pointed out that while many actors can perform well in a show’s first couple of seasons, maintaining that level of quality after 14 years demonstrates a real talent.
I’ve been thinking a lot about Ellen Pompeo’s recent comments about pay on Grey’s Anatomy. She shared that even though she was the show’s namesake – the ‘Grey’ everyone talked about – she consistently earned less than Patrick Dempsey. But what really struck me was that she didn’t seem to hold any resentment about it; she was genuinely okay with him earning more. It’s a surprisingly gracious perspective, honestly.
In a March 2025 episode of her podcast, Call Her Daddy, she explained that she felt she deserved equal recognition, considering the show was named after her. She wasn’t upset that someone else received success, but rather that her contributions weren’t valued as highly, and she believed that would always be the case.

Jamie Lee Curtis remembers earning $2,000 per week, totaling $8,000, for her first movie, the 1978 film Halloween. As she explained to Rotten Tomatoes in 2018, practically no one involved in the film received substantial paychecks.
Although the lead actress made a good amount of money, director John Carpenter’s friend, Nick Castle, felt very successful earning $25 a day for sharing the role of Michael Myers. (Actually, Anthony Moran is the face you briefly see under the mask, and editor Tommy Lee Wallace also appeared on screen as Michael.)
Looking back, it was a whirlwind,” said Castle, who went to film school with Carpenter at USC. He told Vanity Fair in 2018 that his main reason for joining the film was to learn how movies are made and see directing firsthand. “I thought I’d just be observing on set without getting paid, so $25 a day just for wearing a rubber mask was a nice bonus!”

I’m a huge Taraji P. Henson fan, and I was shocked when I heard about her experience with The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. She actually got an Oscar nomination for that role, which is amazing! But apparently, she initially asked for $500,000 for the part. The producers turned her down and offered just $150,000, which she reluctantly accepted. She’s still frustrated about it years later, and honestly, I can see why! It’s a tough situation when you know your worth but have to make a difficult choice.
In a 2021 interview on the Ladies First With Laura Brown podcast, producer Dede Henson explained that Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett each commanded around $20 million for their roles in the film. She added that their high salaries were justified, stating, ‘They deserved what they were paid.’
She explained that she was also bringing value to the project and believed her salary request was reasonable, considering how much the film was expected to earn. She wouldn’t have accepted less. Taraji P. Henson said she was very disappointed when they initially offered her only $100,000. Ultimately, she negotiated a salary of $150,000, but admitted it was difficult to accept less than she felt she deserved.
Henson understands some people might think $150,000 is a large sum of money, and she wants to be clear she’s not ungrateful. However, after taxes and paying her team, the actual amount she receives is significantly less. She explained that with roughly half going to taxes and 30 percent to her team, she estimates she might only be left with around $40,000.

Cate Blanchett has earned a substantial income throughout her career, but her role as the elf Galadriel in the hugely successful The Lord of the Rings films – which made $2.9 billion worldwide – wasn’t her sole source of wealth.
When Andy Cohen suggested on Watch What Happens Live in August 2024 that The Lord of the Rings was her highest-paying role, she laughed and said, “Absolutely not!” She explained that no one actually made much money on that film – she mostly received free food and was allowed to keep her prosthetic ears.

Orlando Bloom, known for his role as Legolas in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, revealed on The Howard Stern Show in 2023 that he earned only $175,000 for all three films.
Hopefully he also got to keep his ears.
