Based on a light novel series that began in 2013, Saga of Tanya the Evil also has a manga and an anime. The anime, known for its unique blend of World War I-inspired settings, realistic military tactics, and exciting action, follows a character who has been reborn into a completely unfamiliar world. The first season aired in 2017 and was followed by a movie in 2019. Fans have been eagerly awaiting a second season for over six years.
Four years ago, a second season was announced, with the original cast and crew set to return, including director Yasushi Uemura, character designer Yuji Hosogoe, and scriptwriter Kento Ihara. After a long period of silence, a reliable anime news source, @MangaMoguraRE on X, has indicated that new information about Season 2 will be revealed soon. This news has quickly spread among fans, who are very excited about the series’ return. While specific details are still limited, an announcement is expected within the next few weeks.
Saga of Tanya the Evil Is a Unique Fantasy Isekai
This story centers around Tanya Degurechaff, a heartless and calculating protagonist who was once a jaded Japanese businessman. Reborn as a young girl in an alternate, war-ravaged Europe resembling early 20th-century settings, she’s known for her ruthless and pragmatic actions, terrifying her opponents. The story begins when she challenges a self-proclaimed God, Being X, and, as a result, is reincarnated into this magical, war-torn world where magic is mainly used for warfare.
Now called Tanya, the main character is determined to rise through the military ranks. But a powerful entity known as Being X continues to hinder her efforts to create a peaceful life. Even though Being X wants to cause her pain, Tanya excels in her circumstances and quickly proves herself a skilled warrior, gaining the attention of her superiors.
The story follows Tanya as she faces numerous challenges while trying to break free from a powerful, self-appointed god and navigating a war for global control. Both the first season of the anime and its sequel movie are now available to stream on Crunchyroll, a popular platform for anime fans worldwide. The original light novel series has been published in English by Yen Press (under the Yen On label) since December 19, 2017.
