Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Masters of the Universe.
Repeat after me: “By the power of Grayskull, I have THE POWER!” That famous phrase is central to the new Masters of the Universe series, and it’s important in several ways.
One of the biggest surprises from movies this year is how Masters of the Universe manages to explore themes of what it means to be a man, the importance of working together, and dealing with disagreements, all while still delivering the colorful and imaginative world fans expect from He-Man and Skeletor.
By the end of its two-hour runtime, Masters of the Universe focuses on the good-hearted nature of Adam and examines what it means to be a man today.
And throughout all of this, Nicholas Galitzine delivers a fantastic performance as Adam, who transforms into the powerful He-Man, battling a series of strange and formidable enemies with his impressive strength and agility.
So, what actually happens in the showdown between He-Man and Skeletor? And is there a scene after the credits roll?
Masters of the Universe ending explained
Prince Adam, having failed to rescue his father, King Randor, and lost the Sword of Power in the attempt, is now stripped of his abilities and trapped in the dungeons of Snake Mountain.
Fortunately, Skeletor needs to bring the Sword of Power back to Castle Grayskull before he can use it. This gives He-Man and his friends the chance to unite and travel to Eternos for a final showdown against Skeletor and his forces.
As a huge fan of He-Man, I always loved this part! You’ve got Adam, with Teela and Battle Cat by his side, finally grabbing the Sword of Power, but then Skeletor goes and messes everything up by destroying it! Luckily, the Sorceress steps in and explains the real secret of Castle Grayskull isn’t the sword itself, but the power inside Adam! It all makes sense when you think about it – the famous line is ‘I have the power,’ not ‘this sword has the power,’ is it?
After regaining his power, He-Man tries to reason with Skeletor and convince him to choose good. When that fails, He-Man is forced to fight, ultimately defeating Skeletor to restore peace to Eternia.
Half a year after peace was restored, Eternia is thriving, and Adam, Teela, Man-At-Arms, and the Masters of the Universe are reunited in Eternos to celebrate their win.
As the story ends, He-Man appears, transforming from Adam and riding Battle Cat as he heads off on a new quest.
Does Masters of the Universe have a post-credits scene?
Yes, Masters of the Universe has multiple mid and post-credits scenes.
I was so excited when the movie started and director Travis Knight’s name appeared – then Orko just popped onto the screen! It was like being back watching the original 80s cartoon, he talked to us just like he always did.

While it’s great to see the popular Trollan wizard, the most exciting part of the credits actually happens a few minutes later. Queen Marlena and Man-At-Arms reappear and have a quick conversation where the Queen subtly suggests another hero exists in Eternia. The scene then cuts to the Fright Zone, showing Princess Adora, now a battle-ready She-Ra.
But there’s even more! After the credits finish, a final scene reveals Evil-Lyn finding Skeletor’s skull, suggesting he might be back in a future movie.
Will there be a Masters of the Universe sequel?
The movie’s extra scenes after the credits strongly suggest the creators are hoping to make another film. But whether a sequel actually happens depends on how well the movie performs in theaters and how many toys are sold.
In other words, please go see this film in the cinema because we deserve a big-screen She-Ra.
