Jesse Ridgway and Ashley Ridgway are standing by their action.
Following his announcement that he and his wife had decided to end their pregnancy after learning the fetus had Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome), the YouTuber McJuggerNuggets responded to the criticism he received.
Ridgway expressed shock at the intense negativity directed towards a couple who were grieving a miscarriage and had to make a very difficult choice. In a June 4th Instagram post, she pointed out that many of the critics don’t have children themselves, and likely wouldn’t understand the challenges of raising a child, especially one with medical issues.
On June 3, Ridgway revealed that he and his wife, who married in October, had made the difficult decision to end their pregnancy. This came after tests showed their baby had Trisomy 21, also known as Down syndrome, which he described as a very challenging diagnosis.
In a recent post, the 33-year-old shared his frustration about a deeply upsetting experience he and others went through.
He asked people to refrain from posting insults and stick to constructive conversation. He also shared support for parents who choose to raise children with Down syndrome, calling it a courageous decision and noting how happy those families seem. He then explained that he and his partner made a different choice, and they are comfortable with it.
The YouTuber pointed out that it’s simple to be accepting of others’ differences when those differences don’t personally affect you.
Ridgway hopes that by sharing his and his wife’s experiences, he can raise awareness about something he feels happens often.

He explained the situation escalated because this topic is rarely discussed. He understands why people hesitate to share vulnerable experiences publicly, given the often negative reactions that follow, and acknowledged the issue is unfortunately common online. Having spent two decades online, he’s used to facing criticism and is happy to contribute to a more open discussion.
Even though people didn’t react to his story as he’d hoped, Ridgway remained firm in his decision to share it publicly.
He explained that people still crave authenticity and honesty. He emphasized that many are silently struggling with real pain and living in fear.
Before finishing his remarks, Ridgway thanked everyone who supported him and his wife through this difficult time.
He expressed gratitude to those who offered support and defended their parenting decisions, saying their kindness meant the world to him.
