The anime series My Hero Academia isn’t quite over yet! Although the main story concluded with its eighth season last fall, and a special episode aired this spring, fans can look forward to one last anime release this summer. This new release will provide a final chapter to the beloved series after its ten-year run.
A new animated short for My Hero Academia will premiere this summer, continuing the story after the events of the anime’s finale and the special epilogue episode. Fans will be able to see it early at Anime Expo 2026 on Saturday, July 4th, as part of a major panel. It’s expected to be a popular event for fans of the series.
My Hero Academia Anime Returns With New Premiere at Anime Expo 2026

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the My Hero Academia anime, a big panel is planned for Anime Expo 2026. Voice actors Daiki Yamashita (Izuku Midoriya) and Koki Uchiyama (Tomura Shigaraki) will be there to discuss the final season and share their favorite moments from working on the show. They’ll also be premiering a brand-new anime short, My Hero Academia “I am a hero too,” which continues the story after the spring epilogue special.
The new My Hero Academia short, “I am a hero too,” will have a sneak peek at Anime Expo 2026. Fans won’t have to wait long after that, as it’s officially launching in Japan on August 3rd. While an international release date hasn’t been announced yet, the short adapts extra pages from the My Hero Academia: Ultra Age fan book and features an older Eri observing Deku’s life as a professional hero.
What’s Going on With My Hero Academia’s Anime?
This latest My Hero Academia short continues to explore what life is like for Deku and his friends as adults, similar to the special released earlier this year. Eight years after the final battle against the villains, Deku and the others are enjoying a newfound peace while Japan recovers. We also see Deku and Ochaco developing their relationship, and with the anime celebrating its 10th anniversary, fans are eager to see even more of their story.
I’m so excited about the My Hero Academia world tour concert! While we’re all enjoying that, everyone’s still hoping for more anime, and it sounds like this next short will be the last official extra material from Kohei Horikoshi for now. But don’t lose hope! The team has hinted that they could potentially create something totally new – maybe an original story or even a movie – if they decide to keep the series going. Fingers crossed!
