Has the performance of PS Plus Essential been impressive in 2025 up until now? It can be reasonably said that the service has experienced consistent success for several months, and the lineup for August seems to be quite robust overall as well.
Undeniably, the most captivating game this month is Lies of P – an acclaimed Soulslike role-playing game initially launched on PS5 in 2023. Sporting a clear homage to Bloodborne, it’s a fantastic choice if you’re yearning for challenging boss battles and eerie environment design.
Initially, there’s DayZ, a zombie survival simulation game. Contrary to Lies of P, it faced severe criticism upon its release on PS4 in 2019 due to technical issues and bugs that hindered the overall gameplay experience. Despite enhancements made since then, we find it challenging to recommend this game in 2025 because there are numerous superior survival and cooperative games available today.
How about giving an anime a try to unwind? My Hero One’s Justice 2 is essentially an ordinary fighting game derived from the well-known manga and anime series. It boasts interesting characters, exciting attack sequences, but its combat mechanics are somewhat lackluster. The experience is quite familiar.
However, let’s not be too critical. Do you find August’s PS Plus Essential lineup appealing? Is Lies of P able to carry the weight of this month’s offerings? Remember to cast your vote in our polls, and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.
