Sci-fi fans have a lot to look forward to on streaming services this May! The popular 2000s reboot of Battlestar Galactica, along with other titles from the franchise, is now available on Paramount+. Netflix is streaming every episode of NBC’s La Brea, and all 100 episodes of a well-loved sci-fi show from the 2010s have also become available in one place this month.
After briefly disappearing from streaming services, the show The 100 is now available on Pluto TV as of May 1st. Based on Kass Morgan’s books, the series begins with 100 young criminals being sent back to Earth nearly a century after a nuclear disaster to see if the planet can support life. Originally airing on The CW from 2014 to 2020, the show ran for 100 episodes and transformed from a teen drama into a gripping survival story reminiscent of Lord of the Flies. It eventually grew into a complex science fiction adventure with aliens, attracting a dedicated following, inspiring fan-created merchandise, and sometimes sparking debate.
The 100 Is an Addictive Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Series
Looking for a new show to get hooked on? Check out The 100. It starts a little slow and focuses on typical teen drama at first, but quickly becomes a gripping, high-stakes adventure. The story follows a group of teenagers sent to a seemingly deserted planet to see if humans can survive there. They soon discover they aren’t alone, and the show turns into a constant struggle for survival against both the elements and other groups of people. It’s a series full of tough choices, sacrifices, and big questions about what it truly means to be human.
As a fan, I was completely hooked by how quickly this series moves – it’s just one plot twist after another, and you’re constantly on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen! The stakes are always incredibly high, and honestly, you never feel like any character is safe. Plus, there are so many characters you really get invested in, and they all grow and change a lot over the seasons. Critics absolutely loved The 100, giving it an amazing 93% score on Rotten Tomatoes across all seven seasons, with the last three seasons even getting perfect 100% ratings! Audiences seemed to feel a bit differently, though, especially as the show went on – Season 7 only got a 42% audience score, which was a bit of a drop.
Other Sci-Fi Titles Now on Pluto TV
Pluto TV is adding a lot of sci-fi content this May! Fans can stream all four seasons (74 episodes) of Battlestar Galactica, along with its original pilot and two movies. Other titles now available on the free streaming service include The 100, Cosmic Sin, The One, Project Almanac, Ultraviolet, the 2005 version of War of the Worlds, and the Jumanji spin-off Zathura: A Space Adventure.
