The film’s ending caption, ‘His story continues,’ wasn’t finalized until just a month before release. Originally slated for April 2025, the film faced significant delays due to extensive reshoots of the third act. While much of the criticism has focused on how the film handled accusations of child abuse against the star, the initial cut directly addressed them, including a scene depicting a police raid on Neverland Ranch and a stark portrayal of the star being humiliated. However, a prior settlement between an accuser and the Jackson estate—which prevented any depiction of the star in future commercial projects—complicated matters. This led to the 22-day reshoot of the third act, funded by the Jackson estate, who—along with producer Graham King—wanted a more optimistic ending for the film.
