At the 2026 BAFTAs Games Awards, TopMob Gaming spoke with Ben Starr on the red carpet. Starr was nominated for his performance as Verso and discussed his outfit, his expectations for the success of the game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and if he’d be interested in playing the character again in a live-action movie.
Jennifer English, who played Maelle, won best performer, but the game Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 took home the award for best game overall. Hades 2, featuring Starr, was also nominated for two awards.
I got to chat with Charlie Cox, who played Gustave, and he thinks Robert Pattinson is the perfect guy to look like Gustave, but they should definitely still use my voice! It’s a really interesting idea, and I totally see what he means.

We asked Starr if he’d be interested in playing Verso, but he declined, stating, “I don’t think a film is necessary.”
Considering the surprising success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, it would be a mistake to ignore this opportunity. Neither the writer, Jennifer Svedberg-Yen, nor the actor Kirsty Rider anticipated such a positive response, and even Starr initially warned Rich Keeble, who played Monoco, not to get his hopes up before the game’s release.
Honestly, I think it would make a fantastic adaptation – it’s just such a well-written story, and the actors really bring it to life. That alone would be enough to make it worth doing!

Starr feels good about his work on the project, explaining, “I was able to play the character and shape him in a way I’m really pleased with.” He also believes the director made the right decision by letting someone else handle certain aspects.
Everyone enjoys imagining who would play the roles in a movie, so we asked Starr who he’d choose for an Expedition 33 film. He didn’t want to say, though, replying, “I’m not going to answer that. I’d rather let the fans decide.”
Starr is open to the possibility of a movie adaptation of ‘Expedition 33,’ saying she’d be happy to be involved. However, she believes the game format is key to what makes the story so powerful and memorable.
