The second series in the Naruto saga, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, is currently unfolding with new chapters released each month, and fans are consistently surprised by the story’s twists and turns. After a period of emotional moments where characters revealed their feelings, the focus has returned to action. The latest villain, Mamushi – one of the Divine Tree beings – is planning to attack the village of Konoha to capture Eida, whom he intends to consume. The most recent chapter showed Konoha preparing for this attack, with characters like Inojin playing a role, but it also established that Boruto, the main character, should stay out of the fight.
Konoha is trying to keep Boruto from getting involved in the upcoming fight because they don’t want Jura to join the attack. Although it seems Boruto won’t directly participate in the battle, he’s still playing a role behind the scenes. A recent clue in the story suggests how this will happen, hinting at a significant power boost for Boruto. This also signals the return of the advanced technology that was a major part of the series earlier on, but has been less prominent recently. Boruto’s new abilities could be linked to this technology, offering a chance to bring it back as a key element of the story.
Boruto’s New Power Upgrade Might Stem From the Series’ Most Unique and Forgotten Element

In Boruto: Two Blue Vortex Chapter 27, titled “Bet Your Life On It,” Boruto unexpectedly visits his classmate, Sumire, with a damaged sword. He asks her to repair it, giving her a scroll containing highly advanced technology. Boruto explains that this technology is something Sumire will eventually develop through her scientific research, and he’s simply helping her skip ahead. Sumire, though surprised, quickly realizes the technology will completely transform his sword.
This confirms Boruto’s sword, previously owned by Sasuke, will receive a complete makeover using advanced technology – a key part of the series. The original Boruto series strongly emphasized science and technology, particularly through characters and groups like Kara and Amado, which helped it stand out from Naruto. However, the recent Boruto: Two Blue Vortex arc has focused more on Boruto’s naturally-inherited powers, causing the series’ scientific side to take a backseat. It’s great to see that aspect being brought back to the forefront, and upgrading Boruto’s sword with these advancements is a clever way to do it.
