Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) has been visited by a member of social services in Coronation Street.
Earlier this week, he discovered that his housemate, Jodie Ramsey (played by Olivia Frances Brown), was responsible for the hateful online attacks against him.
He became incredibly angry and loudly showed his frustration at the Rovers Return, then started drinking heavily. When he finally got home, the babysitter, Kirk Sutherland, told him that his son, Bertie, hadn’t eaten anything that day.
Daniel fell asleep on the couch, so Bertie had to attempt to make something to eat himself. He put a bowl in the microwave covered with tin foil, and it quickly started sparking and filled the kitchen with smoke.
Okay, so the fire alarm went off, and I immediately thought of the Barlows! Turns out, Adam and Tracy were planning to give Daniel a bit of a talking-to, or maybe more than just a talking-to, when all the commotion started.

Daniel woke up on the sofa to a worried teacher from Bessie Street primary school asking about her son, and immediately panicked. He frantically searched the streets of Weatherfield, fearing he’d lost the boy for good.
When he ran into Tracy, she hinted she knew Bertie’s location, which made him anxious and led him to demand explanations. This sparked a fight with Adam, and in the heat of the moment, Daniel accidentally knocked his elderly father, Ken Barlow, onto the sofa while trying to hit Adam.
He was stunned when a social worker named Ruth Hawley (played by Amy Drake) unexpectedly appeared at his door.
Daniel got Bertie ready and reassured him everything was okay. He then cautiously let Ruth into the apartment, and she immediately clarified she wasn’t there to arrest him for anything he’d done.
She offered to help with his care and explained she was suggesting he receive support through the ‘Child in Need’ program.

Daniel strongly suspected that one of six people – Ken, Adam, Tracy, Kirk, Alya Nazir, or her cousin Idris – had reported him, and Idris seemed to be enjoying Daniel’s troubles.
Later that day, he had to awkwardly apologize to Adam and Alya when he discovered he was wrong.
He thanked everyone for their help, explaining that a teacher at Bessie Street had first noticed something was wrong after Bertie confided in them about problems at home.
Will this intervention help Daniel get back on the right path?
