Bloober Team had a packed weekend, releasing a multiplayer game called SAW: Genesis and new downloadable content for Cronos: The New Dawn. They also announced a partnership with the new Paramount Games studio to create a brand new Star Trek game.
Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for Star Trek: Shadow Frontier, but it will be available on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. The game follows Ro Laren, a well-known Starfleet commander from Star Trek: The Next Generation, with Michelle Forbes returning to voice the character. It’s described as a mature, story-focused, third-person action-adventure game.
Lost on an alien planet, she discovers a mysterious intelligence that’s manipulating her thoughts. To survive, she must understand this force, but it won’t be easy – even the local creatures are hostile. Players can choose to fight with a Phaser or try to escape. A Tricorder can help analyze the environment and avoid dangers.
Although it has a scary feel, Bloober Team appears to be creating a psychological thriller. This is a fascinating direction, as the Star Trek universe hasn’t explored many truly dark stories, so we’ll keep you updated on its progress.
