Geoff Keighley sure knows what he’s doing, huh?
Following a mysterious hint on X (formerly Twitter), people online are buzzing with guesses about a new art installation.
Many fans first thought the game might be related to God of War because of elements like skeletons, demons, and armor – things often seen in Santa Monica Studio’s games.
Rumors then pointed to Diablo 4, but Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier quickly dismissed that possibility.
Cory Barlog, the experienced director behind both God of War 2 and the 2018 God of War remake, recently clarified during a live stream with Luke Stephens that the hint dropped during The Game Awards isn’t related to God of War.
Sources say Cory Barlog’s next game at Santa Monica Studio isn’t a completely new franchise, but it will offer a fresh start. We believe this suggests another reimagining of God of War, potentially exploring a different mythology.
So, what is this teaser about, then?
We don’t know who’s responsible, but whoever it is likely had significant financial backing. Organizing an event like this outside of Los Angeles would have been very expensive.
We’ll have definitive answers in about 10 days when The Game Awards take place.
