Crunchyroll is going all-out at Anime Expo this summer! The streaming service will be bringing several popular anime series to Los Angeles next month, including titles like Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle, Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation, Saga of Tanya the Evil, Witch Hat Atelier, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, and Apothecary Diaries. Plus, they’re planning a special event for one of their newest, grittiest shows – promising a return to its dark roots.
Gachiakuta is a unique anime series that throws its characters into a harsh, endless, and magically-charged junkyard where they must fight to survive. The main character, Rudo, was exiled from a higher realm and is searching for a way back home, gaining new abilities along the way. Fans will get a sneak peek at season two on Friday, July 3rd, at 10 AM at the Peacock Theater during Anime Expo. While Studio BONES hasn’t announced a release date yet, this upcoming event could offer clues about when Rudo’s story will continue.
Gachiakuta’s Dark Turn
Fans can get an inside look at Gachiakuta – Return To The Pit next month! The event will celebrate the first season with special guests: Aoi Ichikawa (the voice of Rudo), director Fumihiko Suganuma, and producer Naoki Amano. Attendees will also be the first to see a preview of Season 2, including new footage. With the director, producer, and Rudo’s voice actor all present, it’s clear the panel will reveal what’s coming next for Gachiakuta.
Wow, Rudo’s story started with a huge punch – he was falsely accused of his father’s murder right in the first episode! But it was when we learned about Amo’s past that this anime really earned its reputation for being dark. Her backstory delved into seriously heavy themes of abuse, something you don’t often see explored with this much depth in anime. It wasn’t just shock value, though; it was a really compelling character study that genuinely felt groundbreaking when the first season dropped. Even though Amo eventually gets her revenge on the person who hurt her, you can really see the lasting damage it’s done to her, and it’s incredibly powerful.
Although Studio BONES recently concluded the My Hero Academia story with a special epilogue episode titled “More,” they have several new anime projects in development. In addition to Gachiakuta, the studio is currently working on Marriagetoxin, SK8 The Infinity, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, Fate Rewinder, and Bungo Stray Dogs Wan. Despite finishing My Hero Academia, BONES remains actively engaged in creating new content.
