This summer’s movie season is packed with big releases like Toy Story 5, Minions & Monsters, and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, but Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is quickly becoming the most anticipated film. With a fantastic cast and Nolan’s reputation for creating massive, visually stunning movies, excitement has been building ever since the project was announced. The Odyssey is shaping up to be a major cinematic event – tickets for IMAX 70mm screenings even went on sale a year early! Now, as the release date nears, more premium format tickets are becoming available, but demand is incredibly high, causing website crashes and unfortunately attracting ticket scalpers.
As a huge movie fan, I was trying to snag tickets for Odyssey and heard the AMC app actually crashed for a bit due to all the demand! It seems to be working now, but people are still reporting long waits – like up to an hour. What’s really frustrating, though, is seeing Odyssey IMAX tickets showing up on eBay. Some of these scalpers are charging insane prices – I saw one listing for $1,500! Most seem to be around $200 to $300, which is still way too much, honestly.
