Ethan Hawke Shares Bond With Maya Hawke’s Husband Christian Lee Hutson

Ethan Hawke had great expectations for Maya Hawke’s husband—and luckily, they’ve been exceeded. 

Just two months after Maya Hawke, daughter of actor Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, got married to Christian Lee Hutson, Hutson described watching her walk down the aisle as an amazing experience.

Ethan told TopMob News at the Time100 Gala on April 23rd that seeing her happiness means the world to him, and he’s also a big fan of her husband. He feels fortunate to witness her joy and appreciate the man she’s with.

Ethan, who has four children – 24-year-old Levon with Uma, and Clementine (17) and Indiana (14) with his wife Ryan Hawke – said it’s wonderful to see his 27-year-old daughter married after her Valentine’s Day wedding.

Ethan Hawke enjoyed giving his daughter Maya away at her celebrity-filled wedding, where several of her Stranger Things co-stars, including Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, and Joe Keery, were guests. He jokingly said he still considers himself the most important man in at least one of his daughter’s lives.

Ethan chuckled, recalling a recent text from his youngest daughter. She’d written, ‘You might be on the Time 100 list, but you’re the most important person in my life.’ He thought to himself that it was a special thing to hear, and he was grateful that at least one of his children felt that way.

Ethan’s family also helps keep him grounded, particularly when he’s asked about how he does what he does.

He chuckled, saying his kids joke that they’ve heard all of his stories countless times – sometimes seven, sometimes fifteen. They tell him they don’t need to hear anything new.

Even though being named to the Time100 list is a great achievement for Ethan, he’s much more motivated by his love of acting.

He believed that when you’re passionate about your work, it naturally becomes captivating, and growth simply follows.

The 55-year-old performer simply focuses on meeting the demands of each new project, explaining, “It’s impossible to truly master this profession in one lifetime, which actually takes some pressure off.”
