Former Head of Xbox Film/TV Kiki Wolfkill Has Left Microsoft After 28 Years

Following reports of potential new layoffs at Microsoft, Kiki Wolfkill, a longtime employee, announced her departure from the company on LinkedIn.

After nearly three decades, I’ve decided to leave Microsoft – it was a tough choice, but also an exciting one! My last day was Friday. I’m incredibly thankful for my time there, where I learned so much about listening, leading, taking responsibility, and truly focusing on the people I worked with and served. I’m grateful for the opportunities Microsoft provided and the career I was able to build in this industry I’m passionate about.

I’m also looking forward to pursuing opportunities outside of Microsoft and continuing to learn and grow. I feel ready to take on new challenges and make a bigger difference, and I’ll share more details about my plans soon!

Bonnie Ross, known as Wolfkill, spent 28 years at Microsoft, starting as an artist on popular games like Forza, Mass Effect, and Fable. She later became an executive producer for Halo 4 and then moved into broader transmedia projects. While she’s worked on many initiatives – including the Halo TV series and A Minecraft Movie – and Amazon’s Fallout show, the Halo TV project proved particularly challenging, even considering the complexities of Halo Infinite.

Despite recent difficulties in the gaming industry, she appears to have successfully navigated her career. However, her former employer, Halo Studios, has faced challenges with workplace conditions and reviving the popular Halo franchise. Setting that aside, it’s great to acknowledge her impactful career and the fact that she left on her own terms.

The next Halo game, Campaign Evolved, is expected to be released on July 28th for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
