Pearl Abyss just released a major update for their open-world game, Crimson Desert, on PS5, and players are already praising the new features and improvements.
Update 1.04 is now available for PS5! It’s a fairly large download at around 29GB, but it includes some great new features. You’ll find difficulty options, the ability to replay boss fights, expanded storage for your items, and significantly improved visuals thanks to increased draw distance. Previously, you’ve been playing on what is now considered the Normal difficulty. You can now adjust the difficulty to your preference.
Crimson Desert on Easy Difficulty
- Reduced damage taken by the player.
- Reduced maximum health, aggressiveness, and overall speed of opponents.
- Extended timing windows for Parry and Dodge.
- Reduced the frequency of bosses attempting to counterattack or escape when hit.
Crimson Desert on Hard Difficulty
- Food item effects won’t be applied immediately and will only take effect after the consumption animation is complete.
- Increased damage taken by the player.
- Increased maximum health, aggressiveness, and overall speed of opponents.
- Reduced timing window for Parry and Dodge.
- Reduced the invincibility duration for Roll.
- Increased the frequency of bosses attempting to counterattack or escape when hit.
- Added additional combat patterns for certain bosses.
This update introduces new ways to organize your items, letting you sort collectibles and outfits separately. Greymane Camp has also been improved – you can now have a pet bird, and we’ve added five more cats to discover. We’ve also made some tweaks to how the game controls.
After the update, you’ll likely notice that objects and textures look sharper and more detailed, especially when they’re far away. Pearl Abyss has enhanced how the game renders distant visuals, so the better your graphics settings, the more noticeable the improvement will be. Players are already sharing comparisons, and the difference is quite striking.
Characters now look better from far away, and hair is lit more realistically in shadows. We’ve also worked to minimize screen flickering. You can find the full list of changes in the Crimson Desert update 1.04 patch notes here: [link]
