A much missed franchise returns…
It’s been a while since both the Scary Movie and Ice Age franchises released new installments. After a six-year gap following Ice Age: Collision Course (released in 2016), a teaser trailer has arrived for Ice Age: Boiling Point. The trailer’s style is noticeably inspired by the original Jackass movie trailer.
The Ice Age Boiling Point trailer…
The new trailer introduces Manny, Diego, Sid, Buck, and Ellie – plus the always-busy Scrat, his son Baby Scrat, and the possums Crash and Eddie – as they’re launched from a volcano into a wild, dinosaur-filled adventure. They’re headed to a dangerous and unexplored part of the prehistoric world.
Where did the franchise go?
The original Ice Age movie was a huge success when it came out in 2002, earning $383 million. It was made by Blue Sky Studios, which went on to create other films like Rio and Robots before closing down in 2019 after releasing ‘Spies in Disguise’. Now, Disney is bringing the Ice Age franchise back, and Baby Scrat will be making his big-screen debut after appearing in a short film. For many fans, the real star of these movies is Scrat – though it’s always been a mystery what kind of animal he is (likely a mix of squirrel and rat!). He’s known for the wildly funny and over-the-top lengths he goes to just to get a nut.
The film releases exclusively in cinemas on 5th February 2027.
