Kyle Busch and Samantha Busch had seemingly been through it all together.
In 2015, while recovering from injuries sustained in a Daytona crash, two-time NASCAR champion Kyle Busch told ESPN that he and Samantha have a deep connection, but nothing had brought them closer than her support during his recovery. He emphasized how much her presence and help meant to him.
They planned to keep moving forward together as a family, with their son Brexton, age 11, and their daughter Lennix, who was 4.
Sadly, instead of continuing his racing career, Busch passed away on May 21st. This came just hours after his family announced the 41-year-old had been hospitalized with a serious, unknown illness and would be unable to race at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.
As a lifelong fan, I can tell you Kyle was truly special – a once-in-a-generation driver. Everyone at Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR knew it, and we all felt it. He raced with such fire and dedication, and you could just tell how much he loved the sport and all of us who followed it. He wasn’t just incredibly talented, he cared.
Known as “Rowdy,” the Las Vegas native was a huge star in NASCAR, winning more races – a record 234 – than any other driver. However, beyond his racing career, he was dedicated to his family, first and foremost as a husband and father.
Samantha shared with People magazine in 2018 that Kyle is a constant source of strength for her. While many see his competitive and determined side during races, she knows a much softer side. She explained that he’s always there to support her and lift her spirits when she’s struggling.
Here is more to know about Busch’s family life with his wife and children:

Who is Kyle Busch’s wife, Samantha Busch?
Samantha is a busy mom of two who shares her life experiences through her lifestyle blog and podcast, Certified Oversharer. She’s also the author of Fighting Infertility, a book inspired by her personal journey with IVF, fertility challenges, and the heartbreak of losing a pregnancy after having her son, Brexton, who is now 3.
After experiencing IVF themselves, she and Kyle wanted to support other couples going through the same process. They created the Bundle of Joy Fund as part of her husband’s foundation to help with the costs.
Samantha also appeared on the 2019 reality show Racing Wives alongside her sister-in-law, Ashley Busch, who is married to Kyle Busch’s brother, Kurt Busch.
How did Kyle Busch meet wife Samantha Busch?
The first time Samantha Sarcinella went to a race track, she met her future husband.

Samantha was a student at Purdue University and working as a promotional model when her agency sent her to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to promote the races for Chevy. According to a 2023 Instagram post detailing how she and Kyle first met in 2007, she wasn’t particularly interested in sports, but it was a very hot day. When someone offered her a ride in an air-conditioned Impala, she gladly accepted, and Kyle happened to be the driver.
I immediately noticed his Chevy t-shirt and cool car, and my first reaction was, ‘You definitely got a better assignment than me!’” she remembered. “He gave me a confused look, clearly expecting me to know who he was, and that’s how it all began.”
Samantha took the initiative and invited him to join a group hangout that night. Although he couldn’t make it, he had a friend ask for her number. Since social media wasn’t as common then, they spent four months talking on the phone before finally meeting and going on their first date. As Samantha put it, that’s where their story began!

When did Kyle Busch get married?
The couple got married on New Year’s Eve in 2010, with loved ones traveling to Chicago to celebrate with them.
Samantha described their wedding ceremony as “really traditional, beautiful, and simple” in an interview with Lake Norman Magazine after their honeymoon in Jamaica. The reception was planned to end at 1 a.m., but the celebration continued until sunrise. “The crowd even started chanting, ‘Hell no, we won’t go!’” the bride recalled. “It was just awesome – that’s the only way to describe the whole day.”

Who are Kyle Busch’s children?
Kyle and Samantha welcomed their son, Brexton Locke, on May 18, 2015, and their daughter, Lennix Key, on May 10, 2022.
Samantha was always a source of support for Kyle, and he was there for her during the difficult IVF process that led to their son, Brexton. They continued to face challenges with fertility, ultimately welcoming their son, Lennix, through a gestational carrier.
In 2018, Samantha explained to Candie Anderson that when her husband, Kyle, wasn’t traveling for work, their family of three made an effort to relax and spend quality time together at their home in North Carolina.

She explained that they focus on enjoying the present with their son, Brexton, instead of getting caught up in to-do lists or future plans. They make the most of each moment, whether it’s a hike, a museum visit, or simply playing at a bounce house, to create lasting memories.
Brexton clearly got his love of speed from his dad, and soon he was driving as well, with his father right there as his instructor.
In a February appearance on The Teardown, Kyle described his approach to balancing encouragement with constructive criticism as the “sandwich method”: starting and ending with praise, and offering suggestions in between.
After qualifying in first place, the athlete described a joyful reaction, filled with hugs and high-fives. He said he also experiences that kind of enthusiastic support.
