Jane Fonda didn’t mean to rain on Barbra Streisand’s Oscars tribute.
After Jane Fonda seemed to criticize the choice of Barbra Streisand to honor Robert Redford at the 2026 Oscars – noting her long history of working with Redford – she later explained that her comment was just a joke that didn’t come across well.
According to Jane Fonda, Barbra Streisand appeared at the Oscars to pay tribute to Bob. Fonda was on the red carpet talking to the press and thought she was making a joke at the time, as she shared at the TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood on April 30, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Despite being 88 years old, he really liked Barbra Streisand’s tribute to Robert Redford, who was her co-star in the 1973 movie The Way We Were.
Fonda said she loved having Barbra Streisand involved, noting the film was a classic and the song was truly beautiful.
She added, “Bob would have liked it.”
Barbra Streisand honored Robert Redford, who passed away on September 16th at the age of 89, by singing a heartfelt version of the song “The Way We Were” and sharing a memory of one of their last conversations together.
Barbra reminisced at the Oscars on March 15th about how much she misses him, even the little things, like his playful teasing. He used to call her ‘Babs,’ and she’d jokingly protest, asking if she looked like a ‘Babs,’ but she admitted his delivery always made her laugh.

The 84-year-old recalled a recent phone conversation. They were discussing typical topics – politics, art, and their shared fondness for Modigliani – when, as he was about to end the call, he told her, ‘Babs, I love you very much, and I always will.’
That phone call stuck with Barbra and influenced the last message she wrote to Robert. She finished with ‘I love you too’ and signed it simply, ‘Babs’.
After the Oscars ceremony, which included tributes to Rob Reiner, Michele Reiner, Catherine O’Hara, and Diane Keaton during its memorial segment, Jane Fonda reportedly wondered why she hadn’t been asked to honor Robert Redford. She questioned to Entertainment Tonight, “Why was Barbra Streisand up there doing that for Redford instead of me?”
Although she only appeared in one film with him, Jane Fonda—who acted alongside Robert Redford in The Chase (1966), Barefoot in the Park (1967), The Electric Horseman (1979), and Our Souls at Night (2017)—explained, “I was in four movies with him, so I feel I have a lot more to share about him.”

I’ve always admired the way Jane Fonda handles things, and it was lovely to see her publicly clear the air about any past tension with Barbra Streisand – especially regarding that Oscars tribute. But honestly, what really struck me was how deeply she cherishes her friendship with Barbra, particularly given their history working together on All the President’s Men. That kind of bond makes saying goodbye incredibly hard, and you can really feel that when she talks about it.
Jane Fonda was deeply saddened to hear about Bob’s passing. She shared with TopMob News that the news hit her hard and she couldn’t stop crying, describing him as a wonderful and kind person.
She described the veteran political and environmental advocate, saying, “He represented the kind of America we must continue to strive for.”
Although Jane Fonda and Barbra Streisand weren’t actually rivals, here are some other celebrities who have famously clashed over the years.

In January 2024, Bobby addressed speculation about a disagreement with Tan, following his announcement in November 2023 that he was leaving Queer Eye after eight seasons. (Bobby is pictured second from left.)
He assured Vanity Fair that he and Tan are doing okay. He explained they went through a personal issue, but it’s separate from their work on the show and wasn’t a romantic matter. He wanted to make that clear.
In March 2024, Tan addressed claims that he tried to get his friend Jeremiah Brent to replace Bobby on the show Queer Eye.
Netflix and the production team held a thorough audition process. I didn’t recommend my friend for the role, but they ultimately landed it because they were the most qualified. I also want to clarify that I didn’t help them get the job by sabotaging anyone else, as he explained on Instagram.

During a September 2023 game of “Stir the Pot” with her daughter, Kelly Osbourne, on TopMob News, Sharon Osbourne revealed that she considered Topher Grace, from “That ’70s Show,” to be the rudest celebrity she’d ever encountered. She described him as a “rude little boy” and a “dastardly little thing.”
He did not respond to her remarks publicly.
Five years ago, Sharon shared with Larry King that Ashton seemed annoyed during his 2014 appearance on The Talk because she had misspoken his name.
She remembered him asking, ‘Who are you and what have you accomplished in this field?’ She responded sharply, telling him, ‘Don’t underestimate me, because I’ll completely overwhelm you.’ She essentially warned him, ‘You have no idea who you’re talking to.’

In August 2022, Cassadee Pope and Maren Morris publicly disagreed with Brittany Aldean, wife of country singer Jason Aldean. This followed a post Brittany shared on Instagram on August 23rd, where she thanked her parents for not allowing her to transition during a phase where she preferred traditionally masculine interests, and expressed her enjoyment of a feminine lifestyle.

As a lifestyle expert, I remember when JoJo Siwa shared a story on TikTok about a less-than-pleasant encounter with Candace Cameron Bure. JoJo said Candace was the ‘rudest’ celebrity she’d met, explaining it stemmed from a red carpet event where Candace didn’t take a photo with her. It was a tough moment for JoJo, who was only eleven at the time. Thankfully, Candace quickly apologized, acknowledging she’d hurt JoJo’s feelings and saying she felt terrible about it. It’s always good to see people address those kinds of situations!
Candace and the other person resolved their differences. However, when asked months later if her network, Great American Family, would ever feature same-sex couples as the main characters in its holiday movies, she said it wouldn’t, explaining that the network would continue to focus on traditional marriage.
JoJo, who publicly shared they are part of the LGBTQ+ community in 2021, responded to the actress’ comment on Instagram, calling it “rude and hurtful to the entire LGBTQ+ community.”

In June 2021, Courtney Love claimed Olivia Rodrigo had copied the album cover art for Hole in a promotional photo without giving credit. Olivia responded with a message of support, saying, “Love u and live through this sooooo much.” Courtney then playfully replied, “Olivia – you’re welcome. My favorite florist is in Notting Hill, London! DM me for details! I look forward to reading your note [winking face emoji].”

While on Watch What Happens Live, the Happy Days actor explained the reason he and the Forrest Gump star didn’t get along while filming their 1989 movie, Turner & Hooch.
I directed the movie for thirteen days, and then Jeff Katzenberg, the producer, told me to pack up and go home, saying I had everything I needed.
Winkler and Hanks’ dog seemed to get along very well. “I really loved that dog,” Winkler said.
He also refused to admit if he’s even seen the flick.

“You know what you did!”
Anyone who watched The Hills probably remembers Lauren’s famous line from the start of season three. The drama between her and Heidi began when Heidi started dating Spencer Pratt. It really exploded when Lauren claimed Heidi and Spencer spread a false rumor that she’d made a sex tape with her boyfriend at the time, Jason Wahler.

Tyrese and Dwayne Johnson had a public falling out in 2017, starting with an Instagram post where Tyrese criticized Dwayne after the release of Fast and Furious 9 was delayed until April 2020. On the same day, a spin-off movie featuring Dwayne and Jason Statham was announced for 2019. Shortly after, Tyrese said he would leave Fast 9 if Dwayne was still involved.
Tyrese recently discussed the long-standing conflict with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, telling Van Lathan on The Red Pill podcast that he still hasn’t spoken to Johnson directly, though they plan to. He did mention having a conversation with one of Johnson’s producing partners, but not with Johnson himself.
Tyrese admitted he shouldn’t have publicly shared frustrations he heard from others connected to the film series. He explained he was the one who spoke out, which he acknowledges was unprofessional and a mistake.

No more bad blood here.
Taylor Swift and Katy Perry were famously feuding for years, with some believing the conflict fueled Taylor’s song “Bad Blood.” The disagreement, which began with issues over a shared backup dancer and competing concert tours, finally ended when Katy sent Taylor an olive branch – a symbol of peace – before Taylor’s Reputation Tour began.
Taylor shared a video on Instagram explaining that she found a real olive branch in her dressing room, and said it meant a lot to her.
Taylor captioned the video, “Thank you Katy.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker story for a while now. For years, they skillfully avoided addressing rumors of a feud. However, things really heated up when Kim decided not to participate in another Sex and the City movie and then made some comments about Sarah Jessica Parker that definitely got people talking – and sparked those rumors all over again.
During a September 2017 episode of Watch What Happens Live, Andy Cohen asked Sarah Jessica Parker how she felt about Kim Cattrall telling Piers Morgan they had only ever been coworkers, not friends.
She was deeply upset, saying she was just heartbroken. They had talked about it all week, and she found it really disturbing because her memory of what happened was completely different.
It’s upsetting, but I believe what truly connects us is the shared experience we all had. It started as a job, but over the years, it became something deeply personal. I’m hoping that those years of working on something special, and the connection people felt to it, will ultimately be more important than any recent disagreements. It was a real privilege to be a part of.
And though they didn’t film scenes together, Kim did make a small appearance on And Just Like That.

Elton John and Madonna have been publicly disagreeing since 2004. The conflict began when Elton, while accepting an award, criticized Madonna’s live performances, using strong language to suggest she relied too heavily on lip-syncing. He stated that performers who don’t sing live should face serious consequences, particularly given the cost of concert tickets.

The actress, formerly on Grey’s Anatomy, caused a disagreement with the show’s creator back in 2008 when she asked to not be considered for an Emmy Award. She explained that she didn’t think her storylines that season were strong enough to deserve a nomination.
Shonda Rhimes discussed Katherine’s choice in a 2012 interview with Oprah Winfrey on Oprah’s Next Chapter. She admitted it was a little hurtful, but not entirely unexpected. “When someone shows you their true colors, you should believe them,” Shonda explained. “I’ve really taken that to heart, and it’s helped me a lot.”

The fight between Nicki and Cardi at the Harper’s Bazaar Icon party during New York Fashion Week became a major news story. A month later, Cardi explained what she said caused the fight with Nicki.
Cardi B recently told W magazine that someone has been repeatedly criticizing her. They had talked twice before and seemed to resolve things, but the criticism continued.
Okay, so here’s what really set everything off, as far as I could tell. Cardi saw that Nicki supposedly liked a tweet – a nasty one, about how Cardi parents Kulture! – and then unliked it, though Nicki says she never even saw the thing. But Cardi saw it, and honestly, can you blame her for being furious? That’s where it all exploded, I swear. It was that tweet, I just know it.
Cardi B explained she turned down a potentially hugely profitable Bruno Mars tour because she wanted to be with her daughter. She strongly defended her decision, emphasizing how much she loves her daughter and how dedicated she is as a mother. She also pointed out that opportunities to meet artists casually are rare, and she wasn’t going to miss a chance encounter just because some people thought the setting wasn’t ideal.

The conflict between Kanye West and Taylor Swift began in 2009 when he interrupted her acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. They later reconciled and became friends, but their relationship fell apart in 2016 following the release of Kanye’s song “Famous,” which mentioned Taylor by name.
I couldn’t believe it when I checked Kanye’s Instagram in February 2025! Just one day before the Grammys, he’d only started following Taylor. It was so strange, and he didn’t say a word about why. Taylor hasn’t publicly acknowledged it either, which just makes the whole thing even more mysterious. As a fan of both of them, I’m completely fascinated!

“I don’t know her.”
The rumored rivalry between Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez began in 2003 during a German television interview. When asked about Jennifer Lopez, Mariah Carey famously stated, “I don’t know her.”
