Jane Lynch is heading to the courtroom – on screen, that is! Following her first appearance in Happy’s Place as Gabby’s self-absorbed mother (played by Melissa Peterson), Lynch is now preparing to play a lawyer.
I played a lawyer on the show, and working with Hugh Dancy was amazing. He’s incredibly talented and a true professional – he had a ton of lines and delivered them flawlessly every time. Honestly, it raised the bar for me! I definitely improved my performance just by working alongside him.
Despite her modest comments about her acting, the latest preview suggests Lynch portrayed a more assertive character. The clip shows her confronting Travers, a lawyer who believes the prosecution doesn’t have enough evidence to hold the main suspect in a case involving a woman found dead inside a suitcase.
Jane Lynch on Understanding Complex Characters and What’s Next For Her Career
She described a feeling of abundance and creative energy, saying that embracing honesty unlocks a deeper understanding of character – both in life and in her role as Val in Happy’s Place. She believes everyone contains a full range of human qualities, both good and bad. ‘We all have the capacity for darkness and light,’ she explained. ‘It’s a matter of choosing which side we present to the world.’
What does Jane Lynch have her sights set on next? While she says she doesn’t watch much TV – and therefore doesn’t look at shows as potential work opportunities – she did share one type of show she’d enjoy being on. She’s a fan of British crime dramas and would be thrilled to guest star in one, calling it “cool.”
The latest episode of Law & Order Season 25, Episode 16, will air on NBC this Thursday, April 2nd, at 8 PM Eastern Time. You can also watch an episode of Happy’s Place featuring Lynch on Peacock.
