Jenna Bush Hager Reveals Her Kids Call Her “Biggie” as New Nickname

Jenna Bush Hager might be wondering what’s in a name? 

Jenna, the host of Today, shared that her children – Mila, 13, Poppy, 10, and Hal, 6 – have started calling her and her husband, Henry Hager, a new nickname that Jenna doesn’t particularly like.

Jenna shared on May 13th that her kids have started calling her a nickname she doesn’t love: ‘Biggie.’ She explained to Sheinelle Jones that they’ll say things like, ‘Okay, Biggie!’ and she usually responds with a surprised, ‘Excuse me?’ before they dismiss her with another ‘Whatever, Biggie!’

Mila’s husband, Henry, is also called ‘Biggie,’ but the 44-year-old is concerned the nickname might spread beyond their family. She jokes, ‘I keep telling Mila, ‘Please don’t say that!’ I don’t want our son, Hal, to go to school and have his teacher say, ‘Hal, please hand in your homework,’ only for him to reply, ‘No way, Biggie!’

Sheinelle was surprised and hurt by the nickname, telling Jenna it was something she’d never encountered before and that it bothered her.

The nickname actually became more embarrassing when the author of Superpower Sisterhood explained where ‘Biggie’ came from: it’s based on the phrase ‘Big Back.’

“The root word is ‘Big Back,’” Jenna explained, “and she has simplified it just to ‘Biggie.’”

Sheinelle exclaimed, “That’s even worse.”

Still, Jenna did admit that she was amused by the nickname when her kids first brought it around. 

She said she appreciates wit and clever language. She initially thought someone was creative, but then asked them to stop referring to everyone as ‘Biggie,’ worried the nickname would catch on.

I’ve always admired how open Jenna is about how much her kids have impacted her life. Yes, they definitely keep her on her toes – every mom can relate to that! – but she’s always shared how incredibly positive that change has been. She really embraces motherhood, and it’s inspiring to see.

She recently told Today that she finds the greatest comfort in her children’s simple beauty and innocence. Just reading their schoolwork, cuddling them at night, and listening to their sweet and creative thoughts reminds her that there’s still so much hope in the world.

You know, it’s funny how much we chase youth! Honestly, if someone convinced me that consistently doing something unpleasant – and I’m talking really unpleasant – would make me look and feel younger, I’d probably give it a try. We all have our limits, but the desire to turn back the clock can be surprisingly powerful.

Honestly, when asked if I could fit in a snack, I admitted I was probably only good for a small bite. A full bowl? Definitely not happening! I’m just not feeling up to that right now.

During an April 2025 interview on The Jennifer Hudson Show, the singer of “Save Me” shared a particularly embarrassing story, and he didn’t hesitate to tell all the details.

“I pooped myself one time,” he admitted. “I did, I’m sorry.”
