Jersey Shore Star Angelina Pivarnick Announces Pregnancy

Gym, tan, pregnancy.

Angelina Pivarnick announced she is pregnant with her first child on the most recent episode of Jersey Shore Family Reunion.

During the final episode of Jersey Shore Family Reunion, 39-year-old cast member Snooki took a pregnancy test with her costar, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, offering her support. Snooki had previously revealed on the show that she was single but had decided to use a sperm donor to start a family.

Angelina stared at the positive pregnancy test in her hand, still in the bathroom stall, and exclaimed, “This couldn’t have happened on its own! And there’s definitely no sperm donor involved!”

She excitedly revealed during a private interview that she was pregnant. She expressed her surprise, saying she hadn’t believed it was possible, and emphasized her joy with the news.

Sammi, who shares 9-month-old son Vincent with her husband Justin May, was thrilled for her friend.

“I got chills,” she told Angelina. “I’m gonna cry for you. I knew it. I literally have goosebumps!”

Angelina was shocked by the news, so she filmed herself taking another pregnancy test to make sure it was true.

“I was so surprised, I couldn’t believe it at first,” she said to Sammi. “I’m still in shock. I’m actually shaking right now. Are you certain this is happening? I really can’t believe it – I wasn’t even trying!”

Angelina said, “I think I need to take another test.” She explained, “This is wonderful, but I want to be certain the results are accurate.”

The host of the UM HELLO? podcast revealed on the season premiere that she was seeing several men, with one being particularly significant. She then called the future father of her child during the same episode.

She told me over the phone that she’s pregnant—they’re expecting a baby!

Angelina had been married to Chris Larangeira and was once engaged to Vinny Tortorella. She playfully admitted she didn’t really know a certain man she was linked to.

I was immediately hooked when she said that line in the very first episode! It was so funny and relatable – she just blurted out, ‘I don’t even know his name, I totally forgot it!’ It really set the tone for the whole season, honestly.

Oh my gosh, you guys, in the very first episode of the season, she just casually DROPPED that she didn’t even know his name! Like, she actually said she FORGOT it! Can you believe the audacity? It was the most amazing, hilarious thing ever, and it instantly cemented her as my favorite. I’ve rewatched that moment like a million times, seriously!

The show initially began as a male-only competition called America’s Biggest Guido on VH1. Only Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino from the eventual Jersey Shore cast was involved in that first attempt.

When producers decided to include women—believing they would create more drama, according to casting director Doron Ofir—The Situation was the first housemate they chose. Creator SallyAnn Salsano remembers he immediately made a strong impression, confidently removing his shirt during the audition. She was surprised by his self-assurance, noting he seemed completely comfortable despite just meeting her.

Jenni “JWoww” Farley, who was working as a bartender on Long Island, originally auditioned for Paris Hilton’s My New BFF. However, a few weeks later, she received a call about a different show—one focused on guidos.

When casting for the first season of Jersey Shore, producers reached out to Paul “Pauly D” DelVecchio, a Rhode Island DJ, through MySpace in 2009. What really impressed them during a test shoot wasn’t his DJ skills, but a luxury item in his home. According to casting director Doron Ofir, Pauly D owned a $10,000 tanning booth, which immediately made him a top contender.

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, who had some prior reality TV experience, arrived at her audition visibly intoxicated after seeing a casting call on Facebook. Ofir recalls that Snooki did cartwheels and flips during the audition and that her application was covered in bronzer smudges. Her energetic and memorable audition made her stand out.

Snooki, the reality TV star, actually didn’t prefer her famous nickname. She initially wrote it on an application and later regretted it, wishing she’d chosen something else.

Before Jersey Shore moved to MTV, another cast member, Joey Fist Pumps, was almost on the show. He was a regular at the Shore and a union contractor, but couldn’t participate due to work commitments. MTV also decided they wanted a younger cast, leading to Ronnie Ortiz-Magro and Vinny Guadagnino joining instead.

The show’s now-iconic duck phone was a lucky find. The art director discovered it at a thrift store, and despite initial hesitation, it ended up staying in the house. It quickly became a symbol of Jersey Shore.

During the first season of the show, the cast actually worked at the Shore Store t-shirt shop, earning no salary beyond what they made there, according to Vinny. Shop owner Danny Merk shared that their hourly wage started at $10, increased to $15, and eventually reached $20. Merk said Pauly D was the hardest worker, while the Situation and Snooki were the least helpful. Jenni and Sammi were good at handling the cash register.

After the show became a hit, the cast’s pay significantly increased. They reportedly earned $10,000 per episode, and by the end of the series in 2012, that number jumped to $100,000 per episode.

The now-iconic phrase “GTL” (gym, tanning, laundry) actually originated with the production team. They noticed the cast’s repetitive daily routine and initially tracked it on a whiteboard. Eventually, to save time, they started using the abbreviation “GTL” to represent the gym, tanning salon, and laundry.

Unlike most reality shows, the cast of Jersey Shore is filmed constantly – around the clock – by over 40 cameras for the entire duration of filming, which lasts between 30 and 50 days. As producer Mike Salsano explained, they don’t wait for things to happen; they just keep the cameras rolling.

Initially, the cast had very limited contact with the outside world. They weren’t allowed to have cellphones, watch TV, or even have access to pens, paper, or magazines, though they were permitted one personal phone call each week. Pauly D told Vulture that the only time they weren’t being filmed was in the bathroom – and even then, if two people were in there, they’d film it anyway! He admitted they tried taking long showers to escape the cameras, but eventually got used to being filmed constantly.

After Angelina dramatically left the show, Deena, who had originally auditioned for Jersey Shore, joined the cast as her replacement in season three. Deena explained to Entertainment Weekly in 2010 that she and Nicole (Snooki) had been friends for two years, and Snooki needed a partner in crime on the show.

Before anyone could enter the Jersey Shore house, they had to prove they were 21. As producer SallySalsano told Vulture, the show used an electronic ID scanning system, similar to a club, to ensure everyone inside was of legal drinking age. Anyone who appeared too intoxicated was asked to leave.

Interestingly, MTV almost rebooted Jersey Shore with a completely new cast for the second season.

You can actually rent the iconic Jersey Shore house in Seaside Heights, but it’s expensive – $3,500 a night. Just be aware that the famous jacuzzi isn’t included; it’s located on the roof of the nearby t-shirt shop.

When Jersey Shore premiered in 2009, it faced immediate controversy and advertising boycotts from companies like Domino’s Pizza and Dell. The show also drew criticism from UNICO, an Italian-American organization, due to its portrayal of Italian-American stereotypes.

According to creator SallySalsano, the reaction was unexpected. She recalled questioning the outrage, pointing out that the cast was largely comprised of Italian-Americans from the East Coast and that the show simply reflected their upbringing.

Years later, during an episode of the Jersey Shore Family Vacation revival, cast members JWoww and the Situation revealed personal struggles they kept hidden during the show’s original run.

JWoww shared that she suffered a miscarriage before filming the fourth season in Italy and was emotionally and physically distraught due to the medication she was taking. The Situation explained that his unpredictable behavior during seasons four and five stemmed from withdrawal symptoms as he battled addiction and sought sobriety.
