The 2026 Met Gala had an uninvited guest—and this time, it wasn’t a cockroach.

Unlike the unexpected guest at the 2023 Met Gala who was a performance art piece, this year’s intruder was a real person who tried to climb over the security barriers and run towards the museum’s entrance.

NBC News New York captured video of a man in a jean jacket, bandana, and sunglasses being led away by police near the event entrance. According to reports, security guards stopped him before he could enter the event.

Zuri Hall from Live From TopMob: Met Gala 2026 reported that the disruption caused problems with interviews happening on the red carpet, calling the situation “chaos.”

Additional details about the incident have not been shared at this time.

Aside from the incident with someone trying to get in without permission, this year’s Met Gala red carpet was full of genuine excitement and buzz.

Consider Venus Williams, a co-chair of the event, who wore a stunning custom Swarovski outfit – a shimmering black mermaid gown and a statement necklace covered in jewels.

The tennis star, co-chairing the event with Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, and Beyoncé, wanted her outfit to be a total success.

The athlete told Zuri during a Live From TopMob: Met Gala 2026 interview that they are very competitive and would love to be named the best dressed.

Plus, her earrings bore an extra special message.

She explained she was wearing earrings displaying ‘six percent’ to raise awareness. She’s partnering with Gatorade on a campaign highlighting the fact that only six percent of sports science research focuses on women.

The 45-year-old added, “Can you imagine? So tonight’s a special night for that.”

Speaking to Vogue at the museum, Nicole explained her fashion philosophy: “Fashion is a form of art for me.” She chose a red outfit specifically to connect with the historical use of red in artwork.

The Practical Magic star added that red is a powerful symbol, representing love, passion, energy, strength, and the experience of motherhood.

Sunday, meanwhile, embraced the flowering nature of her Dior look.

“I wanted to symbolize something blooming,” the 17-year-old explained. “It’s my first Met.”
