Following the news of upcoming Game Pass price cuts, Xbox CEO Asha Sharma revealed in a company-wide meeting that the company is dropping the name ‘Microsoft Gaming’ and reverting to simply ‘Xbox.’ This move is intended to re-emphasize the Xbox brand, which hasn’t been the primary focus in recent years.
Microsoft Gaming was formed in 2022 when the company announced its plan to buy Activision Blizzard King. At the time, Phil Spencer led the division, but he recently stepped down, and Sharma has now taken over as leader.
Speaking of the change, Sharma said that “Xbox needs to be our identity”.
Sharma announced that Xbox will be making a comeback, and this message is now being widely shared throughout Microsoft’s offices.

Plus, a new Xbox logo has emerged, reminiscent of the designs used on the original Xbox and Xbox 360. This seems to signal a return to the brand’s roots.
So, TopMob Gaming just got flown out to LA! It was for the launch of this new Fanta flavor, Crimson Sour Cherry, and it was a big deal because it’s a collab with Xbox. Honestly, it feels like Fanta’s really stepping up their game, and it’s cool to see them investing in stuff like this.

When Sharma was appointed, many people were doubtful because of her background in AI. Online, some questioned whether she was a true gamer and even suggested her social media account wasn’t solely managed by her.
Okay, so there was some drama online, and people were worried about AI taking over everything. But Sharma cleared it up – it was just her family having a gaming night! She even made a point of saying they’re totally against filling up the gaming world with boring, AI-generated content. Basically, they’re pro-real games made by real people, and I’m totally with her on that!
With struggling hardware sales and declining Call of Duty performance, the huge investment now looks questionable, even though a Call of Duty movie is in the works.
Everything we’ve heard from Xbox has been encouraging, especially with new information about their next console, currently known as ‘Project Helix’.
Sharma has recently expressed doubts about whether ending console exclusivity is actually a good thing, pointing to Bethesda’s Starfield as a recent example of a game now available on the PlayStation 5 after previously being exclusive.
Ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see how the next Xbox performs, but the games currently in development – including Forza Horizon 6, Gears of War: E-Day, and Fable – look very impressive.
These changes were started a long time ago, so it will likely take a while before we see the full results of Xbox’s recent gaming efforts.
I’m starting to think The Elder Scrolls 6 might end up being exclusive to Xbox, kind of like how Morrowind was back in 2002. Though, back then, it was mostly because Xbox hardware needed a boost, so it wasn’t a deliberate exclusivity deal like some are worried about now.
