Mixtape has quickly become popular, receiving a lot of positive attention for its fantastic and nostalgic soundtrack.
Some players were disappointed the game didn’t launch with a streamer mode, which is unusual for a game featuring so many licensed songs. However, the developer’s explanation clarifies why that choice was made.
You’re probably wondering what songs are included on the Mixtape soundtrack and what’s going on with the new streamer mode. We’ve got the answers to both of those questions, plus one more, right here. Let’s dive in!

Why doesn’t Mixtape have a streamer mode?
Mixtape doesn’t have a streamer mode because the songs in the game are a key part of the story.
While using royalty-free music would be convenient for streamers and YouTubers who often face copyright issues, it would ultimately weaken the story’s impact.
The developers of the game, Beethoven & Dinosaur, recently addressed the question of why Mixtape doesn’t have a streamer mode, acknowledging it’s a valid concern.
Mixtape is a game centered around music – artists like Devo, the Smashing Pumpkins, Lush, and Alice Coltrane. It aims to capture the emotional experience of listening to music, even specific artists like Iggy Pop. The game’s story unfolds through conversations about songs, and the levels are built directly around them. These songs were integral to the experience and couldn’t be altered or swapped out.
We’re really sorry if you’re unable to stream Mixtape. As David Gray beautifully put it in ‘Shine,’ staying true to yourself is the most important thing, and for Mixtape, music is that core essence.

Who composed the Mixtape original score?
Josh Abrahams composed the original score for Mixtape.
This musician, who is from Australia, previously collaborated with Johnny Galvatron on the game The Artful Escape. That game was created by the same team behind Mixtape.
Besides his work as Abrahams, he’s also recorded music as Puretone, The Pagan, and Bassliners. He’s released three albums and numerous singles, and even contributed to the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann’s Moulin Rouge.
That covers everything about Mixtape’s music. Now, go back and have fun playing!
