According to data from FlixPatrol, The Man in the Iron Mask is currently popular on Netflix in all the countries where it’s available. It’s performing especially well in Sweden and Finland, where it’s ranked third. However, the movie is at risk of leaving the Top 10 in countries like Paraguay and Colombia, where it’s currently holding onto the tenth position.
This film is adapted from the later parts of Alexandre Dumas’s D’Artagnan Romances, particularly the novel The Vicomte de Bragelonne. Jeremy Irons, John Malkovich, Gérard Depardieu, and Gabriel Byrne star as the aging musketeers Aramis, Athos, Porthos, and D’Artagnan, in that order.
Leonardo DiCaprio plays two parts in the film: both the main character, Philippe Bourbon, and the antagonist, King Louis XIV.
Randall Wallace was the writer, director, and producer of The Man in the Iron Mask. His film takes more inspiration from the movie versions made in 1929 and 1939 than from Alexandre Dumas’s original novel.
In The Man in the Iron Mask, it’s been years since the famous Musketeers fought side-by-side. However, when the cruel King Louis starts abusing his power and his identical twin brother, Philippe, is held captive, the Musketeers come together again. Their daring plan? To kidnap Louis and put Philippe on the throne in his place.
Critics generally didn’t like the movie when it came out. The review website Rotten Tomatoes gave it a low score of 33% and labeled it “rotten.”
Despite the mixed reception, The Man in the Iron Mask did well in theaters. It opened in second place at the box office, just behind another film starring Leonardo DiCaprio. Ultimately, the movie earned $183 million worldwide on a budget of $35 million.

While The Man in the Iron Mask remains popular, Leonardo DiCaprio’s newest movie, One Battle After Another, is also a big hit. The action-comedy thriller is currently ranking as either #1 or #2 in countries around the world on both HBO Max and Prime Video.
The film One Battle After Another stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a former revolutionary pulled back into a life of conflict when a dishonest military officer starts chasing him and his daughter. Written and directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, the movie draws inspiration from Thomas Pynchon’s 1990 novel, Vineland.
Despite opening against The Man in the Iron Mask, the action thriller wasn’t successful at the box office. However, it’s predicted to receive multiple nominations when the 98th Academy Awards nominations are revealed on January 22nd.
