CinemaCon 2026, the annual movie theater owners convention, is happening this week in Las Vegas. Studios are using the event to showcase their future films and build excitement. Sony’s presentation on Monday night was a major highlight, featuring several upcoming projects, including Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. The studio shared exclusive footage and new glimpses of the film, including a look at the character Spider-Man 2099.

Following the end of Across the Spider-Verse, a new clip from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse shows Miles Morales facing off against an alternate version of himself who is The Prowler. The two Miles share a playful exchange, with Prowler Miles teasing our hero about how he says his last name. As Miles tries to explain his story and the events that have happened, both Prowler Miles and another version of Aaron Davis (Mahershala Ali) appear unimpressed. Miles ultimately uses his lightning powers to make his escape.
Next, we see a fast-paced montage. It shows Aaron and Miles’ father committing crimes in the past, and Gwen Stacy walking across a bridge between dimensions. We also get glimpses of different Spider-Men swinging through a bright, futuristic city, and Spider-Man 2099 facing a series of massive portals. Finally, we see The Spot, looking menacing, and hear him explain his motivations: “I just wanted to be taken seriously” – all while he’s shown draining the color and life from everything around him.
It’s Been a Long Wait for Beyond the Spider-Verse But It Looks More Than Worth It

The next Spider-Man animated movie, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, isn’t coming out until June 2027, meaning fans will have waited over four years since Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. However, early looks at the film suggest the wait will be worthwhile. Producers Phil Lord and Chris Miller have explained the long development process, especially after the cliffhanger ending of Across the Spider-Verse. They wanted to ensure the story, which began with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, was perfect as the conclusion to the series.
Miller explained that the project initially started as a single film, but it contained so much material that it needed to be split into two parts. However, when they examined the second half, they realized it wasn’t just a concluding section – it had its own complete storyline with a beginning, middle, and end.
Lord also explained that while they have a good idea of the ultimate outcome, they need to better understand the process itself. They realized a key question is: how do you rebuild family relationships when pursuing a demanding career or passion, and how do you balance everything?
Although we won’t see the full movie until next June, the preview shown at CinemaCon suggests they’ve finally delivered the complete story fans have been hoping for.
