New Nostalgia-Fueled Streaming Service Announced

For years, entertainment has relied heavily on nostalgia, with many popular franchises returning or revisiting familiar stories. It’s no surprise, then, that streaming services are now taking advantage of this trend. Platforms like Hulu, Netflix, Disney+, and HBO Max have been bringing back older shows and movies, and now Hasbro is joining them. The company, known for brands like Transformers and My Little Pony, is launching its own streaming service with both animated and live-action classics.

Hasbro recently announced plans for a new streaming platform called “Hasbro Legends.” It will offer many of the company’s beloved classic shows – including Transformers, G.I. Joe, My Little Pony, Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, and Jem And The Holograms – all in one place and available to watch for free. Hasbro aims to reach over seventy million households with this service. The move follows the success of ad-supported streaming platforms like Tubi and Pluto TV, suggesting a growing trend in free, advertisement-based entertainment.

Hasbro’s Streaming Premiere

Get After It Media, the company partnering with Hasbro on a new streaming platform, is excited about the collaboration. Co-President Otto Padron shared, “It’s a dream come true – as a lifelong fan, I’m thrilled we can bring classic brands like G.I. Joe and Power Rangers to a wider audience on television.”

Building on GAIM’s insights, Yannick Ferrero, a senior vice president at Hasbro Entertainment, explained Hasbro Legends’ goal: to connect with audiences on the platforms they already use. Hasbro Legends will bring their popular brands to television and other channels, expanding their reach and creating new partnership opportunities for both traditional and online media.

Paramount, the studio behind the Transformers and G.I. Joe movies, is planning to combine these two popular franchises. They officially announced in 2024 that a crossover project is in the works, with a subtle hint appearing in the recent Transformers: Rise of the Beasts film. Beyond the live-action movie, the two universes will also collide in a new animated series from Robert Kirkman’s Energon Universe, produced by Skybound Entertainment. This series has a strong foundation thanks to the successful and critically praised comic book series that has already been released for both franchises.
