Rumors surfaced earlier this week that Valve is finally ready to launch its Steam Controller. The controller was originally announced last year along with the Steam Machine and a VR headset, but all three products were put on hold due to a shortage of important parts. Now, new information suggests the Steam Controller is about to be released, though it’s still unclear if this means the Steam Machine will follow soon.
This morning, content creator @GabeFollower noticed a new listing for the Steam Controller on the Komodo Station website. The listing appears to have been updated around 4 AM Eastern Time, suggesting it’s very recent. Since Komodo Station is Valve’s official store, this could mean the controller is finally going to be released. Soon after, people also found listings for the Steam Machine and the Steam Frame VR headset, though it’s unclear if that news is as reliable.
New Listing Hints at Steam Controller Release, But Shortages May Delay Steam Machine
Now that all three of Valve’s new gaming devices are listed on Komodo Station, many people are hoping they’ll be released together as originally intended. That would be the best outcome for both Valve and Steam players. However, current market conditions might make that unlikely. The recent promotional videos for the Steam Controller only show it being used with the Steam Deck and PC games, and don’t feature the Steam Machine at all. This suggests Valve may no longer be planning a simultaneous launch for all three products.
Valve delayed the launch of its new devices because of a shortage of memory components, which has significantly increased their cost. The Steam Machine and Steam Frame are particularly affected by this shortage, more so than a simpler device like a controller. Since the component shortage isn’t expected to improve quickly, Valve might be releasing the Steam Controller first to get at least one product available to customers.

All three products are now listed on Komodo Station, suggesting Valve might release them all unexpectedly. However, a recent leaked video highlighted the Steam Controller, and with current memory shortages, it seems likely the controller will be available first, followed by the other products. Currently, the product listings are very basic and don’t include release dates or pricing information.
We won’t know for certain if these products will be released soon until Valve makes an official announcement. However, Valve has stated they’re still aiming for a 2026 release, and recent preparations suggest the Steam Controller is likely to meet that deadline.
