As the eighth and final season of Outlander nears its end, good news for fans: you won’t have to wait long for more stories from this beloved historical drama and its world.
Starz has announced that Outlander: Blood of My Blood will be back for a second season this fall, and they’ve just released a preview trailer hinting at a lot of action.
The brief preview features glimpses of the two main couples: Ellen MacKenzie (played by Harriet Slater) with Brian Fraser (Jamie Roy), and Julia Moriston (Hermione Corfield) with Henry Beauchamp (Jeremy Irvine).
We briefly see a young Claire joyfully playing, with her parents watching her and smiling.

Things quickly take a dramatic turn when Julia and Henry find themselves frightened in a forest. This leads to a large-scale fight, with Brian, Dougal, and Murtagh taking the lead.
You can watch the teaser for yourself below courtesy of MGM+, which streams the show in the UK.

Along with a short preview, new photos from the second season have been released, showcasing both couples in contrasting scenarios. One picture shows Julia and Henry looking scared as they head towards the stones, while the other depicts Brian and Ellen sharing a loving embrace – though it might be their last for some time.
As the first season concluded with the beginning of the Jacobite Rising, it’s likely this major event will create difficulties in the couple’s relationship.
In a recent conversation with TopMob, Roy hinted at a major turning point for Ellen and Brian in season 2. He described a situation – symbolized by ‘fiery crosses’ – that presents them with a difficult choice and an ultimatum.
Everyone believes they’re secure, but Brian faces a difficult choice: should he return to his lord and prepare for war, or will he run away with Ellen, becoming fugitives and leaving Scotland behind forever?
Ellen is probably wondering what she’s gotten herself into. She just left the comfortable castle, with its warm bed, and now she’s stuck in a hole in the ground, and to make things worse, she’s being left alone.
Okay, so the second season leaves us with major cliffhangers! Basically, both couples are facing huge turning points. Henry and Julia, after a lot of struggles to reconnect, finally make it to the standing stones, hoping to go back home. But right as Brian and Ellen are enjoying their romantic getaway, everything gets turned upside down when the Jacobite Rising of 1715 kicks off, throwing all the clans into war. It’s a really tense ending, and I’m dying to see what happens next!
In the second season, the two couples will face challenges and be pulled apart by events they can’t control. With a rebellion brewing, each family will be forced to pick a side.
