It’s no surprise to find references to The Phantom Menace, and some of the hidden details are cleverly done. For example, Darth Maul’s introduction uses the same music as his lightsaber duel from the film. However, the most interesting connection is a subtle reference to Anakin Skywalker, offering a glimpse into his childhood on Tatooine.
The next Lorcana set, Wilds Unknown, is generating excitement, especially with the surprise reveal of Merida from Disney’s Brave. We also saw more cards featuring characters from The Incredibles and Toy Story. Ravensburger then previewed the first cards from the Attack of the Vine set, introducing Sully, Mike, and Boo from Monsters, Inc.. Winnie the Pooh will be the focus of the next Illumineer’s Quest, and Lorcana also gave a first look at a future set based on the film Onward, which many fans consider a hidden gem and could make for a fantastic set.
The popular anime series Haikyu!! has a strong history with stage plays, and while it hasn’t yet been adapted into a TV show or movie, it’s been very successful. Starting in 2015, nearly a dozen plays have brought the story to life on stage. Director Kenta Suga has announced that the upcoming performances, scheduled from December this year through January 2027, will be the last, concluding Haikyu!!‘s run on stage. The sequel trilogy showed that the Empire didn’t really disappear – it just reappeared as the First Order. They had the same tools and leadership – stormtroopers, massive warships, and powerful dark side users. We never got a clear explanation of how the Empire evolved into the First Order between the original and sequel films. However, the upcoming The Mandalorian and Grogu movie might finally reveal that connection.
It’s great when anime gets the attention it deserves, but sadly, one of the best series is being neglected, and it seems Square Enix is to blame. The company, famous for games like Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, isn’t taking advantage of this fantastic property. The anime would be perfect as a video game – its detailed world and memorable characters would shine in an open-world RPG or even a fighting game. Unfortunately, Fullmetal Alchemist hasn’t had much adaptation beyond a few old, hard-to-find games, most of which aren’t even available outside of Japan.
There are five Avengers villains who, while powerful, are surprisingly underwhelming. They definitely cause trouble for the heroes, but considering their strength and abilities, you’d expect them to be far more formidable.
