Fans of PlayStation are urging Sony to reintroduce a Diogo Jota avatar for PSN users, as a way to honor the Liverpool footballer following the recent tragic loss of him and his brother. The avatar was distributed for free during the Days of Play 2024 promotional event, but it was only made available temporarily and is no longer accessible on the PlayStation Store.
On Reddit, there’s a discussion going about bringing back the PSN avatar for users who didn’t claim the digital package offer earlier. However, if you already redeemed it, you can continue using it by simply adjusting your avatar within your profile settings.
In simpler terms, Meselyn stated, “Ever since I received this icon, I’ve stuck with it and won’t change unless they take it away. Farewell, Diogo,” on Reddit. Meanwhile, Sneakiest commented, “Rest in Peace. It would be great if they offered the icon again, perhaps different versions since he had several celebrations, like holding a game controller after scoring.
This week, it’s with deep sorrow that we report the unfortunate deaths of Diogo Jota, Liverpool’s attacking player, and his brother André Silva, a forward for Penafiel. Both lost their lives in a car accident. In tribute to Diogo Jota, memorials have been established at Anfield, Liverpool’s stadium, as well as at Molineux, the home ground of his previous team, Wolverhampton Wanderers. The funeral for the two siblings will occur this coming Saturday morning.
