Sony is releasing a new PS5 system update tomorrow that includes a feature they’ve been testing: improved pairing for the DualSense controller. This feature was previously available to beta testers and is now rolling out to all players.
Looks like the latest PS5 update won’t download automatically – you’ll need to install it yourself through the Settings menu, according to Sony. This update includes a new Power Saver mode that reduces energy use by slightly lowering the console’s performance. There’s speculation this mode is also being prepared to support a future handheld PS6 device, though Sony hasn’t confirmed this.
To activate Power Saver mode, follow these instructions once you’ve downloaded the PS5 patch:
- Go to Settings > System.
- Select Power Saving > Power Saver for Games.
- Turn on Use Power Saver and select which games you want to play using power saver.
Sony announced that future updates for both Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei will include support for Power Saver mode.
