Microsoft announced its next Xbox console today, currently known as Project Helix, which is intended to compete with the PlayStation 6.
Asha Sharma, the new CEO of Xbox, announced on social media that she had a productive meeting with the Xbox team, discussing their dedication to the future of Xbox, including their next-generation console currently known as Project Helix.
Sharma announced that the next Xbox will be the most powerful console on the market and will be able to play games designed for both Xbox and PC. She added that she’s excited to discuss these plans further with industry partners and developers at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) next week.
Xbox officially announced on Twitter that its next console is called Project Helix.
Current reports suggest Microsoft will likely release its next Xbox console in 2027, while Sony’s PS6 may not arrive until 2028 or 2029. The new Xbox is rumored to allow users to access games from different online stores, a feature that aligns with details shared about Project Helix.
There’s a lot of talk about Sony’s next console, the PS6, and the possibility of it being released with a portable gaming device. Some believe the recently introduced Power Saver mode on the PS5 is a way to prepare existing games to run on this new handheld.
