Ricky Martin’s Concert Abruptly Stops After Attendee Sprays Tear Gas

Ricky Martinis used to livin’ la vida loca. 

During a concert in Montenegro on May 21st, the singer had to be briefly moved away from the stage when someone in the audience released tear gas. This was a more serious incident than usual.

“As a precautionary measure, Ricky Martin and his entire team immediately exited the stage,” his publicist Róndine Alcalá announced in an Instagram post following the concert, “while security personnel [and] local authorities worked to contain the situation and ensure the safety of those in attendance.”

She further explained that the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer was adamant on finishing the show, continuing, “Although members of the artist’s team advised against continuing the performance, once authorities confirmed that the situation was under control and that attendees could safely return, Ricky Martin made the decision to resume the concert in order to fulfill his commitment to his fans.”

The Ricky Martin Live tour kicked off its European dates in Montenegro and will continue throughout the summer, despite a recent incident, as confirmed by Róndine.

Thankfully, the artist’s representative ended their announcement by letting fans know he was doing okay and appreciated their support and worry.

Okay, so Ricky Martin is, like, my absolute everything, and he always brings his adorable kids – Matteo, Valentino (they’re both 17, can you believe it?!), and the little ones, Lucia and Renn – on the road with him. Because of that, his security team is super careful, which, honestly, they should be! It just means there’s a lot more planning involved when he tours, making sure everyone is safe and happy. It’s so sweet he includes them, but it definitely adds to the work for his team.

Despite the difficulties of being on tour, the actor, known for American Crime Story, has often talked about how much his kids enjoy traveling with him.

“It’s challenging,” he shared with TopMob News in March 2020. “Traveling means considering four additional people, plus all the car seats, bags, and luggage that come with them. It’s a lot to manage, but we make it work… My kids really enjoy being on the road.”

While performing his last song, “Country Girl (Shake It For Me)”, at the North Dakota State Fair in 2025, the American Idol judge was hit with something thrown from the audience. He didn’t let it bother him, though, and finished the song perfectly.

In case it wasn’t clear, Cardi B does not like it like that. When a front row patron splashed their drink on the performer mid-set at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas July 2023, she responded by throwing her microphone. 

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a statement that an unidentified woman reported a battery case the day after the concert, but noted no arrest or citations have been issued. In August 2023, Cardi’s lawyers told TMZ that police informed them no charges would be filed against the singer.

Bebe Rexha is determined to enjoy her night, even after being hit in the face with a phone thrown by someone at her concert in New York City in June 2023. She shared a photo of her injury online, reassuring fans she was okay. The lawyer for Nicolas Malvagna, the man arrested and charged with assault, stated that his client only intended to get Rexha to take a photo with his phone as a souvenir and never meant to hurt her.

Kelsea Ballerini didn’t find it all that charming when someone tossed jewelry up on stage during a June 2023 performance in Idaho. “Someone threw a bracelet, it hit me in the eyes,” she wrote on Instagram Stories days later, “and it more so just scared me than hurt me.”

Ava Max is speaking out about an incident that happened at her Los Angeles concert in June 2023. She explained on Twitter that a fan slapped her so hard it scratched her eye. She made it clear that this person is now banned from all of her future shows, and clarified that while some may see her as sweet, this experience showed a different side.

Pink found it amusing when a fan threw her a wheel of Brie during her performance at the British Summer Time Festival in London in 2023. She jokingly exclaimed, “What the fk,” and said she wanted to kiss the fan. However, the next day, another fan threw a bag of ashes. It feels so strange to even talk about this, but things got a little wild at Harry Styles’ Love on Tour! I was there, and honestly, he had to dodge all sorts of stuff being thrown on stage. The weirdest part? Someone threw a handful of Skittles at him during the Los Angeles show in 2022! It was so unexpected. Afterwards, Skittles even tweeted, asking people not to throw their candy – I guess they didn’t realize fans would actually do it!

What a boob. As Billie Eilish sang “Lost Cause” at a February 2022 show, one fan tossed a set of false boobs at her. But proving that she’s, uh, breast under pressure, the seven-time Grammy winner flung them back into the crowd and kept going. 

Uh, guys, he warned you. Moments after Kid Cudi told the crowd at his 2022 Rolling Loud set, “Yo, I’m going to walk off this stage, if y’all throw one more f–king thing up here, I will leave,” he was pegged with yet another object. So he left. 

Fans were shocked when someone threw a lemon at Ariana Grande while she was performing at Coachella in 2019. Although she was clearly bothered, Ariana quickly laughed it off, telling the audience, “Someone just threw a lemon at me!”
