A popular game on Steam is now free to download and play permanently. However, it won’t be available on the platform for much longer.
Games are added to Steam much more often than they’re removed. Removals usually happen because of licensing problems, difficulties with development, or violations of Steam’s policies. This particular game will be taken off Steam in just over a week, as the developers are moving on to new projects.
The popular game Pico Park: Classic Edition has been featured by many YouTubers and streamers. It was the first Pico Park game created by TECOPARK and has since been followed up with an updated version and a brand new sequel.
I’m totally hooked on Pico Park! It’s a puzzle game where you and up to nine friends work together to solve levels. The art style is super cute and retro, but what really makes it fun is figuring out the puzzles with your friends. It doesn’t matter if you’re all on the same couch or playing from different places – it’s just a really entertaining experience!
I couldn’t believe it when I heard the classic version of the game was turning ten! But the celebration quickly turned a little sad. The developers announced that on June 14th at 7 PM PST, they’d be taking it off Steam for good. Luckily, they made the awesome decision last October to make the game completely free to download and keep – even after it’s gone from the store. It’s a great way to celebrate ten years, and make sure fans can still enjoy it!
It looks like TECOPARK is planning another game in the Pico Park series. They announced on Steam that more games are coming, telling fans to “stay tuned!”
While Pico Park and Pico Park 2 are still available on Steam, the Classic Edition will be removed in 10 days. Fans are upset about this change and have expressed their frustration online, with many believing the developers are trying to push players towards buying the newer game by taking away the original version.
TECOPARK clarified their decision to remove the game from Steam, stating that maintaining the online servers indefinitely wasn’t sustainable. They also reassured players that the game won’t be completely removed – anyone who already owns it will still be able to play it fully, even after it’s no longer available for purchase. As they stated, “Even after distribution ends, those who have already obtained the game will still be able to play the entire game.”
You have 10 days left to claim your free copy of Pico Park: Classic Edition on Steam. After June 14th, it will no longer be available, as the developers at TECOPARK focus on new projects.
