Fans of The Apothecary Diaries don’t have to wait much longer for more content! Season 3 is set to premiere in October with around 12-13 episodes, followed by another set of episodes in Spring 2027. In addition to the new season, a feature film written by the original author, Natsu Hyuuga, will be released in December. This film will tell a brand new story not found in the novels. Currently, the film is only confirmed for release in Japan, but international viewers can anticipate either a theatrical release or availability on a streaming service after its debut.
As fans eagerly anticipate the anime’s comeback, the official website has revealed details about a limited-time pop-up shop coming to Daimaru and Matsuzakaya department stores this June and August. The shop will feature new merchandise with original artwork. A newly released visual showcases the main characters in fresh pastel-colored outfits, maintaining their signature traditional style.
What to Expect From The Apothecary Diaries Season 3

Details about Season 3 are scarce since a trailer hasn’t been released yet. It’s anticipated the season will cover the fifth and sixth volumes of the original light novels, split into two parts. A major turning point occurred with Maomao’s kidnapping, forcing Jinshi to abandon his disguise as an eunuch after his true identity as the Moon Prince, Ka Zuigetsu, was revealed. Following his defeat of the Shi Clan, Jinshi officially began his duties as a royal family member and will no longer oversee the Rear Palace.
With Concubine Gyokuyou’s son born safely, Maomao had no reason to remain in the palace and so she left. Her adoptive father was officially employed as the palace physician, and Maomao began working as an apothecary at the Verdigris House. The story will follow Maomao as Jinshi asks for her help in solving mysteries throughout the kingdom, starting with a growing problem in the Northern farming villages.
The power dynamics within the palace are changing, particularly after the birth of Gyokuyou’s son. The new prince will now be the heir to the throne, taking the title previously held by Jinshi, who is the Emperor’s younger brother. The story will also reveal the hidden truth about Jinshi’s origins. Before the new season and movie arrive, you can watch the first two seasons of the anime on Crunchyroll.
