After five seasons, The Boys is heading towards its big finale, but the universe will continue with several new spinoff shows currently being developed. Throughout the series, we’ve met both new and returning heroes. However, one group of heroes won’t be continuing their story, as their spinoff has been canceled.
Okay, so here’s the deal with Gen V: it won’t be back for a third season, according to Variety. That’s a bummer, I know, but don’t worry, it’s not a complete goodbye to those characters. The producers, Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg, have confirmed we’ll definitely see them pop up in The Boys Season 5. They’ve hinted that their stories will continue within the larger VCU universe too, so while Gen V as a standalone show is done, these characters aren’t disappearing. It sounds like they’re weaving them more directly into the main Boys narrative, which, honestly, I think is a smart move.
The Boys Says Goodbye To Gen V, But There’s More Happening In The Universe

The show Gen V follows a new generation of superheroes training at Godolkin University, a school designed to prepare students for a potential spot on The Seven. Over two seasons, characters like Marie, Emma, Jordan, Cate, and Sam face challenges both at school and in the wider world, and they begin to cross paths with characters from the original series.
I was so excited for season 2 of Gen V, and a lot of us fans really enjoyed it! The premiere had three episodes, which was a great way to kick things off, and it actually hit number 8 on the Nielsen streaming chart with over 424 million minutes watched – that’s amazing! It did especially well with adults aged 18 to 49, which is a key audience. But honestly, after that strong start, the show only made it back into the top 10 one more time, and it never quite reached those premiere numbers again. It’s a bit disappointing, but I’m still hoping for a season 3!
Good news for fans: characters from Gen V will return in The Boys season 5, which makes sense considering season 2 of Gen V was closely tied to the events of the main series. Plus, there’s a chance these characters could appear in other upcoming projects like Vought Rising and The Boys Mexico, giving us even more to look forward to.
The Boys season 5 is now streaming on Prime Video.
