Frenchie’s journey has reached an untimely end.
Tomer Capone, who plays a superhero fighter in the TV show The Boys, died in the second-to-last episode of season five, which aired on May 13th.
After Homelander kills the President, dissolves Congress, and breaks up The Seven, Frenchie and his girlfriend Kimiko try to figure out a way to stop him. However, their plans fall apart when the unstable superhero catches them in the middle of it.
Frenchie instructs Kimiko and Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) to take cover while he faces Homelander. Sadly, their plan to kill Homelander using radiation didn’t work. Following a fight that isn’t shown on screen, Frenchie is seriously wounded. He and Kimiko share a last kiss before he dies from his injuries.
It’s a heartbreaking ending—one Tomer himself hasn’t yet been able to watch.
Oh my gosh, he said it! He actually admitted it! In a new interview with Variety, he confessed he’s way too invested in Frenchie. He said it’s been the longest he’s played any character ever, and after five seasons, it’s just… too much for him to watch! Like, he’s too attached, and I totally get it! It’s like watching a part of him up there on screen, and it’s just hitting him hard. I feel seen! He understands how we all feel!
Filming this particular scene felt different and more meaningful than anything else he’d done while playing the character.
Tomer remembered it being very late. Everyone anticipated what was about to happen, but he recalled a unique atmosphere. A quiet fell over the crowd, and people were clearly moved. He admitted to feeling a bit anxious before his performance, but that quickly gave way to a sense of magic.

He described feeling like he’d handed control over to Frenchie, who then led the scene while he and the rest of the team simply observed. He remembered it as a deeply moving and beautiful experience on set.
Despite the intense and deadly confrontation between their characters on the May 13th episode, Tomer revealed that he and Antony Star maintained a relaxed and positive atmosphere while filming.
The 40-year-old actor explained that they had a lot of fun on set with their co-star, Antony. Because the scene took place in a dark setting, they kept the mood lighthearted by dancing between filming takes. As soon as they heard ‘action,’ they’d become their characters and focus on the scene, but otherwise, they enjoyed themselves and kept things playful.

Tomer spoke about the emotional farewell between Frenchie and Kimiko, which was especially painful because they had just been happily imagining their life together. He told Kimiko that she had saved his life.
Tomer explained that his character’s final lines – “Will you choose love, connection and compassion?” – really capture the heart of the show. He described the story of Frenchie and Kimiko as being about finding someone who accepts you completely, offering redemption and unconditional love. He simply called it “pure love.”

Okay, so everyone knew Joel was probably doomed, right? I mean, the way things went down with him in the game, The Last of Us Part II, was basically a sign of what was coming.
