The pirate adventure and crafting game, Windrose, has quickly become a success, selling 2 million copies in just one month after its release on April 14th. The game’s developer, Kraken Express, shared the news on Steam and expressed gratitude to players for their support.
When we launched our game, we were hoping to find a community that loved it as much as we did,” said the team at Kraken Express. “It’s been amazing to see so many of you playing, sharing your experiences, creating content, and helping us improve the game. We’re incredibly grateful for all your support.
All your screenshots, streams, reviews, bug reports, and positive feedback have been invaluable in making this game something really special. Your support has brought The Archipelago to life.
The developers provided an update on the future of Windrose, announcing a patch arriving shortly to fix issues players have been reporting. After that, they’ll begin full development on the next major update. While they haven’t shared details about what this update will include yet, the team is still planning its features and scope, meaning it will take some time to release. They assured players they’re committed to adding substantial content and making the wait worthwhile.
Thanks again to all of you! This is an exciting new chapter for the game and our growing community. We truly appreciate your support and promise to keep working hard to deliver an experience you’ll love.
The game Windrose quickly became a hit, selling over a million copies within just six days of its initial release last month. At its peak, over 222,000 players were online simultaneously (according to SteamDB). The developers expressed their gratitude to the community for this early success.
We’re incredibly grateful for your amazing support and understanding as we continue to improve the game. It means the world to us! We’re constantly reading your feedback, watching your videos, and honestly, it makes us so happy to see you enjoying the swashbuckling adventure we’ve dreamed of creating. We know there are a few issues – like those pesky boars! – but overcoming challenges only makes you a better pirate, right?
By the end of April, Kraken Express had sold 1.5 million copies of its game. The studio also released an update primarily focused on resolving technical issues and bugs.
So, I’ve been checking out Windrose, and right now it’s only available on PC as an Early Access game. I haven’t heard anything from the developers, Kraken Express, about whether it’ll come to consoles. If you’re curious about what it’s like, I wrote a review of the Early Access version. Basically, it’s not finished yet, but I think it has a lot of potential and could be really good down the line.
