The Mandalorian & Grogu Cast Teases Surprising New Side of Baby Yoda

Baby Yoda’s adventures aren’t child’s play.

According to Sigourney Weaver and Pedro Pascal, stars of The Mandalorian & Grogu, viewers will see a fresh perspective on the character known as The Child.

Sigourney Weaver, 76, recently told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi at the premiere of The Mandalorian & Grogu that Grogu is full of surprises. “You can count on that,” she said. “He seems like a cute, innocent little creature, but I believe he’s a stronger fighter than people realize.”

The new movie directed by Jon Favreau, coming to theaters on May 22nd, follows Pedro Pascal as The Mandalorian and Grogu on a mission to save Rotta the Hutt (played by Jeremy Allen White). They hope Rotta will share valuable information with them. The story picks up shortly after the end of the third season of The Mandalorian, where Din Djarin officially adopted Grogu.

Despite a bit of bravery, Baby Yoda remains incredibly cute, and Pedro Pascal says he’s actually getting even more adorable.

You know, as someone who studies relationships, I’ve been really touched watching the connection between this character and Grogu. It’s become so strong – he genuinely sees Grogu as his own child. It’s a beautiful thing to witness, and speaks volumes about the power of found family.

He added that while he doesn’t have children, he understands how a parent’s love grows stronger each day.

Jon was really impressed, saying the puppet was amazing. He thought it was far better than he’d imagined – fans had initially nicknamed the character Baby Yoda before his real name was shown in season two.

The director, age 59, said the creature was built by Legacy Effects. It began as a basic puppet, but they went above and beyond what was expected. We originally only needed something to be in the background, but it turned out much more impressive than that.

He explained that they didn’t initially expect the puppet to be a star, but it improved each year and eventually became the highlight of the performance.

Oh my gosh, you guys, The Mandalorian & Grogu is hitting theaters May 22nd! I seriously can’t wait to see what Din Djarin and Grogu get up to next – I’m already counting down the days! And it’s amazing that Jonny Coyne, Dave Filoni, and Steve Blum are all part of it too! While we wait, I’m trying to keep up with all the other exciting movie releases coming out…but honestly, nothing compares to this!
