Zayn Malik Cancels All U.S. Tour Dates After Hospitalization

Zayn Malik is taking some time to rest.

Niall Horan, formerly of One Direction, has canceled all of his upcoming U.S. tour dates for KONNAKOL. He was recently hospitalized for undisclosed health reasons.

Zayn thanked his fans on Instagram for their incredible support of his new album and, even more importantly, for all the love and well wishes they sent his way while he was recovering. He said he felt their support and it meant everything to him, and that he’s now at home, doing well, and getting stronger every day.

I’ve had to revisit my upcoming schedule and unfortunately need to cut back on some dates for the KONNAKOL Tour. I still want to play as many shows as possible and see everyone I can. I’m excited about the performances we’re still doing, and I hope to connect with the rest of you soon. Sending lots of love, Z.

The musician, age 33, shared the news despite still having concerts scheduled later this month in Mexico, the UK, and South America. This announcement came two weeks after he first updated fans about being hospitalized.

Zayn shared a message with fans on April 17th, thanking them for their constant love and support. He explained it’s been a difficult week and he’s still recovering, and he’s upset he won’t be able to see them. He expressed his gratitude for their understanding, saying he wouldn’t be where he is today without them.

To illustrate the issue, he explained that just a few weeks or a month prior, he was able to squat 295 pounds. Amy Schumer is grateful for the internet, despite its often harsh nature, because it helped her discover a health issue. After noticing she looked ā€œpuffierā€ during interviews, she was surprised when doctors began commenting on her appearance online, suggesting she might have Cushing syndrome. They pointed out the significant swelling in her face and urged her to get checked. This prompted Amy to realize she’d been receiving steroid injections following a breast reduction and C-section. These injections, she learned, had caused the Cushing syndrome, a condition she wouldn’t have known about without the online scrutiny. Amy recently shared that she’s relieved to have a form of Cushing syndrome that will resolve on its own and that she is healthy.

She suddenly developed stroke-like symptoms, initially unable to respond when Justin asked if she was okay. She then realized she couldn’t speak and the right side of her face began to droop.

Although her speech and facial movement eventually returned, Hailey went to the hospital for tests. Doctors discovered she had a small blood clot in her brain, which they identified as a TIA (Transient Ischemic Attack).

Further examination at UCLA revealed Hailey had a hole in her heart, called a patent foramen ovale (PFO). This hole allowed the blood clot to travel to her brain, causing the TIA.

Hailey has since undergone a successful procedure to close the PFO and is now doing well.

The same year Hailey faced a health issue, Justin also experienced one. In June 2022, he revealed he had been diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, which caused temporary paralysis on one side of his face. This forced him to cancel the remaining dates of his Justice World Tour.

In a video posted to Instagram, Justin explained the condition affects the nerves in his ear and face, preventing him from blinking, smiling, or moving his nostril on the affected side. He also shared that it was becoming increasingly difficult for him to eat.

Fortunately, the paralysis eventually subsided. Hailey shared on Good Morning America that Justin was recovering well, saying it had been a frightening and unexpected situation, but he was going to be completely fine and she was thankful he was on the mend.

She shared on the show Fit for TV: The Reality of The Biggest Loser that her memory of the event was fragmented. She recalled hearing a helicopter, feeling like she was floating, and then seeing her grandfather. After that, she remembers only darkness, followed by light, which led her to realize she had died that day.

While filming the show, she experienced a sudden, severe headache while at the gym. She described collapsing and being violently ill, realizing something was seriously wrong with her brain.

A hospital scan revealed she had suffered a subarachnoid hemorrhage, a life-threatening stroke caused by a ruptured aneurysm. She immediately underwent surgery to repair it, but the pain was excruciating. During her recovery, she experienced aphasia, making it difficult to speak coherently.

Though she was eventually discharged after a month, a 2013 scan revealed the aneurysm had grown and required a second surgery. This procedure was unsuccessful, leading to a massive bleed and a dire prognosis. Doctors had to perform a more invasive surgery, accessing her brain directly through her skull.

This search for well-being lasted a decade. The physical discomfort also triggered emotional challenges, including fear of food, body dysmorphia, and questions about her identity and self-image.
