Video purportedly from Project Blackbird – a sci-fi, cyberpunk game ZeniMax Online was working on – has appeared online.
The video appears to be a concept piece rather than actual gameplay, but it does give a good sense of the game’s overall look and feel.
This game was being developed by the same team behind The Elder Scrolls Online, and like that game, it was planned as a massive multiplayer online role-playing game.
Last year, rumors suggested the game Blackbird would involve third-person shooting with a focus on climbing and navigating vertically. Recent leaked gameplay footage seems to confirm this, showing tall buildings and multiple levels.
Man, it’s such a shame to hear about Blackbird. I was really excited about it, but apparently Microsoft cancelled it after seven years of work! I heard it even impressed people like Phil Spencer at Xbox, but that wasn’t enough to keep it going. It’s a bummer when a game with that much potential just gets scrapped.
The reason Project Blackbird was cancelled remains unclear, but we anticipate more details will emerge in the future.
