A recently released Konami game is already receiving high praise, currently ranking among the top five games of 2026 according to Metacritic. With a score of 86, it’s tied for second place among the year’s best releases so far. While this ranking might change as more games come out, it’s a very promising start to the year for Konami.
The game Super Bomberman Collection is now available on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X. It features seven classic Bomberman titles, including Super Bomberman, Super Bomberman 2, Super Bomberman 3, Super Bomberman 4, Super Bomberman 5, Bomberman, and Bomberman II. Notably, Super Bomberman 4 and Super Bomberman 5 are being released in the west for the very first time as part of this collection.
Fans and Critics Still Like Bomberman
Positive reviews from critics are great, but it’s even better when players love a game too – and that’s happening here. While we don’t have player reviews from the Nintendo or Microsoft stores yet, the game is receiving high marks on Steam and PlayStation. On Steam, it has an 85% positive rating, which is very close to its overall critical score. PlayStation players especially seem to be enjoying it, giving it an impressive 4.88 out of 5 stars.
Classic Konami Games, New Features
This collection features a mix of classic games alongside fresh content and updated features. You’ll find a new Boss Rush mode, the ability to rewind gameplay, screen filtering options, and a save/load function that works at any point during a game. Otherwise, the games themselves remain largely unchanged.
Collections like this can often be expensive, but this one is surprisingly affordable. Konami is selling it for just $19.99 for seven games. While it might get even cheaper later with sales, Konami doesn’t usually offer big discounts, so this price is likely to stay pretty consistent for a while.
If this retro-inspired collection isn’t for you, Konami has four other games coming out this year: Darwin’s Paradox, Silent Hill: Townfall, Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, and a brand new Castlevania game. This makes it one of Konami’s busiest years for game releases in a long time.
