Good Games Group acquires Humble Games, rebranded to Balor Games

Earlier this year, after a restructuring led to layoffs at Humble Games, former employees formed Good Games Group. Now, Good Games Group has acquired Humble Games from Ziff Davis and is renaming it Balor Games.

This acquisition gives the buyer ownership of over 60 games, including popular titles like Slay the Spire, A Hat in Time, SIGNALIS, Forager, Coral Island, Monaco, and Wizard of Legend. It also includes all the games previously published by Firestoke before they closed.

Balor Games, founded by industry veterans Alan Patmore and Mark Nash (formerly of Humble Games), focuses on supporting and publishing unique, independent games – what they call “triple-I” titles. They offer the benefits of an experienced publisher while letting developers maintain creative control.

According to Balor Games CEO Alan Patmore, this new chapter feels like a homecoming for the developers they’ve partnered with. The company’s leadership and dedication to carefully selecting games haven’t changed, but they’re now operating on a larger scale with a sharper focus. Balor Games aims to be a mark of quality for independent game creators, supported by strong backing and a commitment to innovation.

Balor Games is partnering with Affray Interactive to release the tactical horror shooter SCP: 5K. The game is currently available on Steam in Early Access for PC.
